I am purchasing a CX Classic cap from ARE for my 2021 Tundra Double Cab. I use the truck for hunting often so am looking to have good lighting solutions for low light conditions. I previously used battery powered LED's in my last truck, but looking for a better solution.

When building the cap at the dealer, the option of installed LED's with prop switches came up. I like the idea of the lights coming on when opening the windows. I also like the idea of pre installed lighting that hides the wiring and is ready to go with just running power back there.

The cost is less a concern than quality. Does anyone have the lighting from ARE? Has it been reliable? Have the prop switches worked and been reliable? How has this compared to other LED setups you may have used?

I am also looking at the mattgeckoLED setups as an alternative option if I do not go with factory LED's.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

So there are a few options.

When i bought my ARE, it came with LED interior light by the back glass. I wired it up to the regular cab light, so the that light will come on when the truck doors are opened automatically or will come on when using the switch in the cab. You can also keep that light off with that switch too. That light works ok, not super bright.

I also wired up Amazon strip lights along the bed lengthwise. One passenger side, one drivers side and one on the base of the glass window. These are turned on by a switch just inside the driver's side windoor, so they can be opened from that windoor or with the back glass open. These are VERY bright, wired to a 12V outlet i have installed in the back which is wired directly to the battery (fused of course). With the topper headliner, velcro sticks very well to it. That is how i stick on the lights and strips of velcro can be used to run the wiring as well.
