This is what happens when one state is allowed to run the regs for the nation. The CA automarket is too large to lose, so whatever insanity is forced there gets complied with as much as possible by automakers and the rest of the nation has no say in the market as a result.

Tesla took out every part of the soulful experience:
took the gear changes out
took the rpm bases power curve out
took the visceral howl of the engine out

and left us with only the result. a 9.3sec 1/4 mile.


it's like Everclear...everything is refined out, except what matters.

I disagree on two points.

First, would be that the result is all that matters. The soul adds fun, but if you're into necrophilia because it gets the job done, well you do you.... or you do the old lady down the street that died yesterday. Whatever.

Second, they can be beaten with enough money. It's just not cheap. Land speed records are a thing.

yes, it can be beaten. if you look at videos, the only thing that beats it are 1/4 mile specific hot rods...like 1500hp dragster based cars.

meaning, you would have to specifically modify a car to beat it, and that usually renders the car unable to be a daily driver.

ponder that....my wife drives this thing to Walmart, with the A/C and Stereo on. While getting ~108 MPG!

I much prefer to drive the '34 Ford, as it belches and bitches down the road! I get way more thumb's up from other drivers.
