Also, regarding the C8 vs Plaid. I think some will still race it on the quarter, knowing they may lose and do not have their hopes up, but many do and are in for a quick surprise.

Idk how they remain asleep on FSD or AP with the cameras and constant reminders to touch the wheel (or adjust the volume) they used the have weights you can buy off Amazon, but I read Tesla found a way (in addition to the interior camera) to stop that.

Yup. The only valid fire based criticism of a Tesla is that if it catches on fire it's way harder to put out. That, and if the battery is punctured and gets wet, it's a bad day.

Legit question here, because I do not know: Does Tesla have sensors and such to see if the battery gets punctured? Mainly thinking if somebody were to hit road debris or take it somewhere it shouldn't go and hit a rock, what would the car do?

I think it would leak coolant, and a message would pop up telling you to pull over, but I’m not 100% sure on that.

Yeah, I ask because I have no idea how they are built/structured. It's a whole new language vs ICE.

Yeah, I wouldn't be happy dealing with constant delays. Not unless they'd upgrade the color at no charge or something. They are the manufacturer, not a dealership, so they should have a way better handle on what is going on with it.

Biggest issue with Tesla; "overpromise and underdeliver" seems to be their motto, and the cult following lets them get away with it.

That's not all all what it is.
The waiting line grows by the day for this new model, so they adjust the delivery estimates.

If you can show me that they made all the January deliveries they promised and the February ones up to now, then I might buy that. I would almost bet money, they've not delivered to everyone they said they would.

Wait…remember when Toyota had delays with Tundra’s….or when they were shorting customers key fobs.

Absolutely remember. Apples and oranges. Difference was that the customer was told by a dealership when it would be in, not by the manufacturer. They don't have dealerships so this is the actual manufacturer, not a separate privately owned business, saying "it'll be there next week" over and over. A middleman dealerships is known to be scum and lie. The manufacturers don't speak with the customer directly. Now, do they lie to the dealer? Maybe. Don't know. They didn't with my Tacoma. They just wouldn't give a time to expect it until it was on a truck. You know, to avoid pushing back a date they can't meet.

As for the FOBs, it was said up front that it would be delayed for a second FOB due to chip shortages. There's no such thing being said here.

They all have delays for various reasons, but some state the reason and the existence of the delay rather than just pushing back dates on ordered vehicles.

Generally, your delivery date is sooner than your estimated date. I've heard that from multiple people.
I had to push my delivery date out past their estimate in January because I didn't want to take leave for it.

I think we are reading that post incorrectly. It says “new” orders have changed, not “current”. New order timelines adjust all the time. Sometimes it could be weeks with no adjustment. Other times it could be adjusted daily.

Say for example they dropped the price of a 5 seater base model X by about $19k overnight. My sales guy said he went from selling one X a week to 2-3 a day. That would be a prime example of dates changing rapidly.

In this case it’s probably due to the $1k off of a Y that just happened. Unless they already adjusted that back up. I can’t remember where we are at in that situation.

Well damn. I missed the phrasing. I read it as New Model 3, rather than New Orders. My bad.

I don’t think I’ve read of any delays I think mine was pushed back (but communicated a few days beforehand) only a couple of days due to random in-transit issues (driver broke down, driver got stuck, etc) I’ve read some that were damaged in transit (I.e- rock hit fender. Small dent) and Tesla offered them to bring it back for repair, or deduct X dollars off the amount….i think.

I also believe you can reject a delivery attempt. So during your inspection you find a blemish in your seats and you say no. That one goes to inventory and your back to waiting.

Mine was in inventory already so I just had to wait for the next available delivery window. Buying a Tesla is easier than upgrading your cellphone.
