Whatever this forum told me to do
We pass these EV haters, whilst driving hands free - eating our Buccee's breakfast tacos.

Listening to Rush's "The Camera Eye" on a banging stereo.

    Life is good.

I can’t test this anymore. But it would essentially warn you to pay attention. If not I “believe” it would kick you out of FSD. If you get kicked out I think there is like a set time you can’t reactivate it.

Basically the little coffee cup warning on the Tundra’s but with real time monitoring.

Ya and if you ignore the warnings you’re in time out from using it lol
Also, on AP, the car will pull over and put its flashers on as it thinks you’re not awake

I didn’t either. I would maybe do a temp subscription if I thought I would use it.

people may not like the idea of the camera watching you, but you don’t need to search far to see what people did before that update started.

Don’t search on a work computer.

Good. Now I can freak out coworkers that try and f with it. I had a couple of my mechanics “threaten” to do questionable stuff to it. I tell them go ahead I’ll put your picture all over the shop lol. That works every time. But I find the being able to talk to people useless unless it was a big enough event to send an alert to your phone.

did those 3 runs look like 1200hp?

    no.

it performed like a 700hp car. I guesstimate an 11 second 1/4 mile.

and to answer the question - no....well maybe, if that was your goal.
1200hp out of a C8 is near useless without 4wd. as you can clearly see in the initial loss of traction.
and it will not beat a Plaid on any given day. which is precisely what this video shows.

The recent Tesla Plaid Channel video has a 427 drag car...not winning the 1/4 mile. incredible.

This has to be a soul killer for ICE drag racers.

I'm also curious how much the tuning and mods to the Tesla were compared to the C8. I'm sure it was far less, but it's not provided or else I missed it.

what would it matter? I bet ZERO. other than the driver seat & stickers.

A stock MS Plaid runs 9.3's.

I don't know how much of those races were the same shots at different angles, or if they were doing a quarter mile run, so it's hard to guesstimate the time. I would bet the shot from the back of the tesla with the vette fading and the shot from in the vette with the tesla pulling away are the same points in time, but from two perspectives. Cannot guarantee it, though.

As for it killing souls, I don't think so. It's such an apples and oranges comparison of power delivery that it would be like a guy in a gas pickup feeling bad that a diesel tows better. Or like a guy competing in women's sports. Is it really winning when the deck is stacked in your favor so badly that there isn't actually a contest? No. However, it is great data to show in an understandable way just how fast electrics are.

I didn't say it would matter. I was just curious. The fact that it was omitted but the cost of the 'Vette mods was emphasized (and the main hosts comments) shows the bias/preference is all.

I'm viewing it objectively as none of it matters to me, at all. I give zero care about drag races aside from the joy of things that go fast and loud. If somebody gave me either of those cars, I'd sell it the next day. No use for it.

    Wait a cotton-pickin' minute...

you can't have "zero care" about drag racing whilst commenting on drag racing.

    that's.....confusing me.

my original point stands - the dude spent gobs of money to beat a EV. and got his ass handed to him.

Suggested correction, dude spent gobs of money to build a drag race RWD vet. I have extreme doubts that it was purpose built to beat an EV. Do you have a source that this was the intent?

and if I'm extra spicy today....I'm prepping the books for the Tax folks.

and all I can think about is...how much of this income tax bill pays for other folks EV credits.

Again, it wasn't built to fight EVs. It was just built to be fast. For an ICE, it is. ICE loses to EVs in a quarter mile race. Nobody is disputing that or surprised by it.

Ugh. Don't remind me. I need to do my taxes. I have the simplest ones ever, but the damn goober website makes it a PITA. Just give me the damn form to fill out and the book with the tax brackets. Nooooo. You have to dig through the bullshit to figure out where they buried it and which links you click to get there. I hate it, and I hate it even more knowing that I'm PAYING them to make it such a miserable experience.
