Hey. Help put my mind at ease. I have a tick from the driver’s side engine bay at idle. Seems to go away with revs. I would say like a noisy tappet. I’ve read about direct injection being noisy. I’ve read about the Toyota tick. 100% going to have my dealer take a listen. Anybody else experience this tick?

No its not the transmission. Truck drives great . So I can't answer the question but bring it to the dealership and see if they gave you a similar response.

It's a Tacoma, but that's the tick. Not the lower one. The higher pitched metallic sounding one. Sounds like a tappet to me, but I've been reading a lot about injectors too. Went to take a vid went I got home and of course it wasn't doing it lol

I think I have the same issue. Mine occurs profoundly, while parked, when engine is off and truck is "running" on the electric. Almost sounds like a fan blade is hitting something

@303Gen3 I have a 2023 Tundra. Do we have the injector cleaning cycle? The Internet seems to be full of Tacomas ticking. That video has the exact sound of my truck though.

@ElectricMan I don't have the hybrid. This is with the engine running.

Sounds like high pressure fuel pump. I would not worry. At idle the engine may switch from port injection to direct injection. When it’s in direct injection mode, the fuel pump has a high pitched metallic noise.

no injector cleaning cycle on the Tundra TT that I am aware of - but I honestly don't know. Thought I ready a post by you that were in a Tacoma - by bad. Mystery not solved then.
