Hey everyone. The topic of engine swapping my 3.4 Tundra has been crossing my mind a lot lately. I want to have some power and the stock 5vz is just very limited even with a supercharger. I've been thinking about a 2jz ge or gte, 1uz, or a 4.8/5.3 ls. I like the sound of the Toyota motors because I may be able to reuse my a340 and prob not have to mess with the driveshaft. I know the distributor setup on the 1uz makes it a little more complicated, although I have found a high mileage one for 800 (full car) from a friend. But I do know the 4.8/5.3 you cannot go wrong with. For simplicity, I would use a standalone ECU (Holley EFI or Haltech). Any input? What is my cheapest option for solid power for light towing & speed? Which option is the simplest and easiest to drop in? Thanks

It's gonna be a lot more work than you think.

efficient way. Sell it. Get truck w/ v8

I doubt the tranny would be able to be utilized. Just cause they probably don't make an adapter plate for it.

Which then leads to a custom driveshaft or finding one that fits ect.

Not saying you can't do it. It's been done. It's just not as simple as plug and play. Ever.

From what I've heard the 5vz's internals are good as high as 450hp. Granted getting there is $$$.....

That regular cab with would be a beast with some more ponies.
