    I’ve looked a bit and haven’t seen much for the 1GY understandably.

    been looking around Instagram and seen a few shops that are dropping LS motors into land cruisers during restorations.

    if you were going to keep your truck for the next 20 years and your engine crapped out, what would you swap it for? Research says not to rebuild the 2-UZ for whatever reasons whether it be rod thickness or timing belt.

    would you dump an LS in it or something from Lexus/Toyota?

    GenIII SBC. Hands down.

    Someone near me has a GenIII swapped T4R. I pulled up next to them on the way to the airport a few days ago.

    I’ve been thinking more and more about this truck the more I’m under it. This thing has zero corrosion at all and I really want it to be a classic. Just thinking about the future

    I think it’s renowned as a plentiful engine with a vast array of aftermarket and OEM parts availability and can make huge power relatively easy.

    Plus can be mated to a 6 spd and return 325hp and 20ish mpg

    Yes and yes. To boot, easy to swap, lots of retrofit support. Lots of accessory setups available OEM, and oil pan options.

    But also a step backwards in reliability. Reliable but not 250k+ miles reliable.

    Small block Chevy = plentiful, cheap and generally easy. It’s the “basic bitch” of engine swaps for a reason

    i'd try to swap in anything. In fact, i oughtta be searching for a clutch pedal & bracket for when the time comes.

    I'd pop in another 2UZ engine. Be the easiest and most straightforward option. Nothing changes.
