ENGINE IDLING & OIL CHANGE INTERVALS

I'm a 5,000 mile oil-changer with full synthetics. I know many of you go beyond that mileage on oil changes. My wife has a habit of endless idling in the car for A.C. + phone calls to her friends, mother, etc...sometimes sitting in the truck for an hour plus when she gets home, idling away. Who knows how much idling she does elsewhere without putting an hour meter in somewhere. General usage is very typical suburban driving in non-dusty environments, stop and go traffic.

I imagine I should "handicap" my oil change intervals based on this "abusive" vehicle usage. We all idle a little bit, but this has become a bad habit I can't correct without marital conflict. I may be worrying too much about this from the technical perspective.

Should 5,000 miles still be my oil change interval (OCI) given that my full-synthetic oil is likely good to 7,500-10,000 miles...or should I move the OCI to ~ 4,000 miles?

Note: Using Castrol Magnatec 0W-20 full-synthetic oil and OEM oil filters.
