New member & unfortunately my 2022 TT engine ‘f’d up recently. Checked oil, it registered on stick, no warning on dash but thought it could be oil pump going bad. Towed to dealership and was told NO OIL and filter was loose. Sent me some pics of metal shavings in pan along with a pick of them draining my oil pan prior to dropping pan. What about NO OIL. Was not aware of the e-c 6-c 3.5l turbo v35a-fts issues at that time. They are saying it’s the oil change business’s fault that serviced my TT yet didn’t make me aware of the issue with that engine. I feel they are going to try and get over on me. Someone please help with advice

    This is…confusing.

What made you think the oil pump was going bad? All you told us is you checked the oil, it “registered on stick” (this wording does not give me confidence that you checked correctly), and you had no warning on the dash.

What did the dealer mean by no oil? Did you get any specifics from them? Did they mean a bit low? Did they mean it just lost some from the loose filter?

And finally, a messed up filter install on an oil change on my 4Runner years ago at a local shop is exactly why I started changing my own oil.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Sorry about your engine. Don't let the dealer screw you over.

    Welcome from NY.
Hopefully you can get this straightened out. Where was your last oil change? You didn't smell oil burning while you were driving? It had to have spraying onto hot engine parts.

Seems like your oil change place owes you a new motor. Beware of who does your oil changes. If you don't change your oil yourself and your dealership screws it up, it's on them. Who changed your oil?

Welcome from Texas! I hate to hear this. To add to the comments about the dealer screwing you... I deal with this stuff all of the time with Subaru. The dealer does not have the authority to make these types of decisions. Also, (in my case) the manufacturer doesn't make these decisions. They send out a non-bias, 3rd party inspector and will base their decision solely on the recommendation of that inspector.
