We're giving the '02 Tundra a thorough exam and encountered this plug under the hood that is not connected. This is on the driver side near the firewall. We're a bit nervous about putting the plug back together because everything works fine as best we can tell. Any ideas what this is and why the previous owner would have left it disconnected?

Do you currently have daytime running lights?

I don't know, but I'll find out as soon as I can.

For clarification, this plug is back by the firewall and not up beside the battery.

It almost looks like the DRL plug. I disconnected mine as well because I don't care for them. Plug them back in, set the parking brake (or have someone seat in it with the brake pressed) and see if you have DRL's. Unplug it again and see if they go off. IIRC, mine was closer to the headlight/battery but yours may be different.

Don't want to assume wrongly....As in they are working now with that unplugged ?
That area by firewall where connectors are located causes me to ask if your TVIP Buzzer chirps when you actuate your wireless door lock ?
Appears from my couch that one of those connectors cables goes to buzzer.

My 2002 V8 4.7L has a ‘Piezo’ chirper and box there for the remote lock/unlock system. Bubba is a top notch couch guru analyst so it seem he is on to something concerning TVIP 3000.

@BubbaW Sorry for the delay. We had a winter weather event sweep through north AL yesterday making the roads tricky. So, I never made it over to my dad's to verify. As @Professional Hand Model noted, there is a piezo buzzer near that location (photo below), but I didn't include that photo at first because I didn't know it was related. I'll get by there after work today. Thanks to all.

@BubbaW Went by my dad's place today and confirmed that the DLRs are working even with this connection unplugged.

I felt that would be the case since the connector is at the firewall. Were you able to follow the cables any to see where they may go ?
I'll look further at my 2002 service manuals that may show the connectors at the firewall and master cylinder.

Does your ‘Piezo’ chirper sound when you use your wireless remote ?

Thx! I did not follow them any further, but I did get an interesting story related to wiring. My dad took the Tundra to the dealer today to figure out why a factory trailer wiring harness he ordered didn't fit. After some research, the dealer said that his was an early 2002 model and that electrical wiring was switched to a new scheme halfway through the '02 model year. He said the most accurate wiring diagrams for us would be those for the 2001 model year. Seems sketchy, but entirely plausible.

(That might explain why his Tundra has 2 different factory electrical plugs (noted here) for 2 completely different kinds of trailer wiring harnesses in 2 different locations. Maybe his was sitting on the line when they switched things over on a Monday. Ha!)

That's definitely interesting if true. Did they give any supporting documentation?

@BubbaW The previous owner said that the wireless remote was unreliable, so, my dad put it away and just uses the key. I will check it out tomorrow when I go by his place.
