Hi, I know next to nothing about engines and was wondering if anyone knew if a 2019 3ur-fbe engine is compatible with a 2010 3ur-fbe engine. My 2010 engine recently broke down and I am trying to see if the 2019 model can replace my current one. The reason for asking is that while the mechanic I asked said that the engines should be compatible, however, the shop I am getting my engine from is saying that because the VIN#'s don't match up I would not be able to get the warranty for the engine, so I wanted to be sure.

I’m going to take a stab at this. Most likely no. You would need at least the same engine from the same generation truck 2010-2013. The newer generation engine will not have comparable wiring harnesses for the ecu and other components that go on the engine. It is safer to replace with the same generation engine. Good luck. Your mechanic should know the difference. I would worry if he didn’t.

It'll work but you will need the ecu and harness to be more plug and play.
