I don’t go off-road much so I rarely need to activate the locking differential capability of my TRD.
Yesterday, I finally engaged it for the first time ever on my 2024 (something I should have checked out right after buying the truck).
I remember seeing a post that suggested that one should activate the locking diff from time-to-time to keep the mechanism from freezing up.
This seems reasonably but how often?
Once a month, once a year?
Anyone ever have theirs failure due to lack of use?

I did it weekly along with in/out of 4Hi/Low my first year. After 50+ operations the locker and xfer case shift so much easier and faster now. After that, once a month.
(Keep those actuators from sticking. Too many stories of owners trying to engage 4WD after not using it for yrs and it won’t go in due to a stuck actuator drive)

Your manual may answer your question. My Taco manual states to engage the system monthly, but it doesn't say for how long. There is a three-mile dirt road near my residence that I use to engage the system about every two months. It is a short scenic detour I enjoy taking.

I did look at the Tundra Owners Manual but only saw how to operate. Nothing on exercising it.
If I remember I’ll put it in/out once a month.

Now that I think of it, I don’t recall ever using it in my 2018 in the 5.5 years I had it. What are the chances that it would work for the new owner?

The transfer case lubrication has nothing to do with occasionally working the locking rear differential, bruh.

LOL It would probably have other members who point out misinformation like you posted, bruh. Any other questions?
