I took apart my calipers and had them powder coated so when I reassembled them they were bone dry. I noticed there is only one small port on the bottom of the caliper that feeds fluid to the outside 2 rotors. Does anyone know if there is a special procedure to bleed these? I’ve bled them all the traditional way 4 times with no bubbles, but the pedal still feels a little soft.D12D2BA2-5DC4-4C23-BC5F-4D6A4ED7CFF8.jpg

When you bleed by pumping up the pedal then opening the bleeder you are forcing air into the fluid which when pressure returns to ambient will boil out and cause a soft pedal. Correct way is one push, one open. Close bleeder, release pedal. Repeat

I tried that for two of the four blessings.

When the caliber was removed did you stop the flow of fluid or did the reservoir drain?

That’s a good question. My son was helping me and added fluid before checking the level so I don’t know.

If the reservoir and the M/C drained, the ABS modulator will need to be bled using a scan tool, and bleeding each caliper in sequence as part of the procedure.

The port between the inboard and outboard housings of the caliper is at the top, or at least it should be. The do take more than a couple of pumps to bleed, but it’s not terribly difficult.

Most calipers use a banjo bolt to attach the brake line to the caliper. When I remove a caliper I use a bolt with sealing washers made of innertube and clamp off the flow of draining brake fluid. If you don't the next morning your master cylinder will be nearly drained of fluid allowing air into the system.
