So I bought a 01 Tundra with an Upstream 02 code. I put a new Denso sensor in. My question:

Should I clear the code and drive it until the emissions cycle is ready, or should I drive it and allow the code to clear itself?

It doesn’t matter but I would recommend removing the negative battery cable for 10mins to force the ECU to relearn with the new sensor in place, force it to more rapidly set fuel trims etc.

So I found the drive cycle steps posted somewhere on the forum. It was very specific about the drive time and a cold start to set the sensors. I almost had it in the fall but my 02 wouldnt set, so I shelved the project for a while. I ran some errands in it one day and that did the trick. So now Im passed emissions and registered!

I probably wont work on it too much this summer because my other work truck doesnt have A/C. Its been nice driving around latetly. The guy I bought it from had new struts and I put those in but they are ridiculously soft. The tires (265/75/16 starfish rims) rub the bumper corner on speed bumps. I might put on new rear shocks and see how it rides while I continue to read through the 100s of suspension threads on here. Anywhoo..back to work.

Heres a pic from my last junkyard trip because I dont have any of the tundra on my phone.
