2014 with 167k miles on the truck. Parked my truck at the house after making a beer run Saturday night and everything was fine other than the maintenance required message being on because I need to change my oil, no big deal. I had about a quarter tank of gas and the truck was telling me theres about 80 miles left in the tank.

Next day I start the truck up and the gas gauge is pegged at empty and it's telling me theres 0 miles left on the info screen. Figured it was maybe something to do with how I was parked and went to get some gas. Turned the truck back on with a full tank and still said I had no gas. Pegged out at 0. Except this time the info screen kept saying traction control has been turned off, there's no fuel and the check engine light came on. All of this came out of nowhere when the truck was fine the night before.

Has anyone seen this before? I've owned the truck since 150k and haven't had a single problem with it.

Got the battery and alternator tested and they are good. Got code P0463 which explains the fuel level issue but doesn't explain why I can't turn traction control on.

Disconnected the battery for about an hour to reset everything and see what happened because why not lol. Fired the truck up and it died immediately. Fired it up again and it stayed running. This is the second time I've done this and the exact same thing happened both times.

I'm not so sure that the traction control is actually off because it only shows it on the information screen and the light doesn't light up. It constantly goes back and forth between traction control off and low fuel level. These issues started at the same time and I don't think it's a coincidence. Where should I check for chewed up wires? Is there a common place in these trucks rodents like to go?

Are you able to scan more than the engine ecu. Can you scan the traction and abs system as well?
If so and there is a code stored there it could point you in an area that might get answers for you.
If a mouse chewed wires between the tank and the entrance of the harness in the cab, you would get some weird stuff.
I have seen them chew up right at the firewall on the passenger side. Right next to the fender behind the air filter box

How do you scan the traction and abs system? Do you mean behind the front passenger side wheel is where you've sent them chew? I'm trying to figure out where the fuel sender and traction control wiring would cross so I can check there. Do you know where that's at?

Just trying to figure out the problem myself so I can use my comprehensive insurance to pay for the damage

To scan traction and abs you would need something more than a simple code reader.

Not the wheel well, in the engine compartment behind the air box you will see the harness where it goes into the cab

I would start at the tank and work your way forward.
I bet the tank wiring and rear lighting harness (w/abs wires) enter the truck under the drivers side rear seat.

I went to Adcanced auto to get the codes read. Where should I go to get a more advanced reading that would get the codes you're talking about? Also I popped the hood today and searched for a good 20 minutes and didn't see any wiring damage. Looked against the firewall and everywhere.

I'll check there tomorrow after work. Thank you for the tip, what is the best way to access that area? Just use a creeper and roll under the truck?

Mice went for the top of my block, that’s where it’s nice and warm for the longest...take off the plastic engine cover and find the pcv valve, it’s got foam around it. Look thru there (towards firewall) and there’s a void on the top of the block, a few inches wide. A bright flashlight will help. Look for evidence in there...

Tough to say. Haven’t been under that area of my truck much. I would go in just in front of the rear passenger tire and find the harness coming off the top of the tank.
As far as reading the other codes, any shop or dealer should have the ability to scan for make/model specific codes.

Pack rats chewed through two wires on the passenger side of my engine compartment—2021 Toyota Tundra 5.7L 4WD 1794 Editon. The dashboard warning lights (traction control, ABS, avoidance system, 2WD/4WD) are lit up now, along with warnings in the information system. I have downloaded the Ultimate Tundra Wiring Diagrams Collection. The two wire harnesses chewed through are routed underneath the air box. I have yet to identify which harness this is to replace it. I have an appointment at the Toyota dealer, and my insurance will pay for it all. However, I am trying to see if the electrical/warning system is being triggered by this one two-wire harness, since this is a relatively new occurrence of rodents in this Tundra (my other vehicles have all been hit by rodent chewers over the years).

Does anyone know which two wire (black and white wires, tan/gray connector) harness is routed under the airbox? MAF sensor harnesses usually have more than two wires. Looking through the diagrams still and not finding the obvious. Next step is to take the air box off and just follow where this harness goes.

    Thanks for any suggestions/ideas.
