After disassembling my dash to add Those sweet ambient lighting lights my dash say Parking Brake Malfunction and flashes the PARK sign. I did pull out the cluster that connects to the parking brake and hold switch/button and disconnect it. I did Not disconnect the battery for I was locating and tapping into power. Never had an issue before, any ideas?

I'd check for a blown fuse somewhere. Always a risk when playing with electronics and not disconnecting the battery.

I'm not familiar enough with the 3rd gen Tundras to be any help in IDing a specific fuse. Just as a basic starting point that would be the first thing I checked. If that doesn't work, I would unhook whatever was added to see if it's causing a short.

    Try this:

Engine running, turn off parking brake. Shut engine off.

Engage parking brake, then start the truck.

Sometimes this will clear the code.

Problem solved. I kept on fiddling with the parking brake by pulling the lever and pushing the Hold button and the lights eventually turned off. I can only think of that when I disconnected the dash while power was still going on the computer thought there was some electrical issue and that the electrical parking brake malfunction. I’m glad it didn’t go looking through fuses!

It can be quirky. I threw the code by engaging the parking brake while barely moving in reverse. Glad you got it cleared
