Earlier this month I was rear ended in the carwash and after dealing with insurance companies and getting funds straightened out I decided to replace my rear bumper with the DV8 off road bumper.

I chose this bumper because it was one of 3 options that claim to be both sensor and BSM compatible. The BSM compatible bumpers can be bought from CBI, ICI, and now DV8. Both the CBI and the ICI come at a price > $2100 where the DV8 was under $1100 shipped to the door (without any discounts). Additionally DV8 had the bumper in stock and it arrived via fedex in about 3 days.

In my opinion, DV8 off-road had a questionable performance record with some people in this forum. This seemed to be a theme in other forums as well. They seem to be more involved in the Jeep world than anything else. At one point I found a forum where a member was putting DV8 on blast and I got to see a DV8 account reach out directly to them to try and make the member’s situation right. That gave me some confidence in the company so I took the chance and ordered their bumper.

The bumper was packed pretty well and It arrived on time. I didn’t notice any problems with the finish of the bumper upon inspection. install was great, they have a great install guide that was easy to follow, I did it myself in half a Saturday. All the sensors and BSM work! My biggest gripe at the moment is the design of the BSM sensor. It uses a hole that was otherwise designated for a 3 inch pod light. The BSM is situated in the hole without any covering so it is very ugly. I am considering options to make the BSM less of an eye sore at the corner of the bumper.

    Happy driving!

    Good post

Some vinyl wrap might be your best bet for streamlining the BSM sensors. I believe the signal should go thru the vinyl since they work thru plastic bumpers. Would be cost efficient and easy to maintain down the line.
