For those of you who traded in your third gen Tundras. What did you get and why?

    Lots of stuff!
I tried to trade mine but the dealer didn’t want it back.

They told me that they would auction it and I could get about 40k cdn for it.

This was about 3 months ago.

I have a Limited TRD with less than 5k miles on it.

    I told them no!

    When I need a truck, I borrow my friend’s F150.

I tried the dealer again this week and they still don’t want it back. I might try and sell it privately.

I really want to believe that this will be corrected and the value of these will get better but it is taking so long and I can’t see any movement with the engine recall until maybe Spring or early Summer 2025.

We wont use it for towing or long trips so it is not getting much attention since last May.

Sorry for the long winded response. I am just unhappy with this situation.

I tried to get a 2024 Hybrid since they wont be dragged into the recall.

I have been considering HD truck either a Cummins or Duramax since all we so with the truck is tow with it. I haven’t actually looked at any yet but might have to venture out to the stealerships soon!

The Tundra has been a fun project to play with but not a useful work truck for the obvious reasons.

I know that there are other issues when looking at GM or Ram but these power plants appear pretty solid.

Just drive it, tow with it, if it blows its under the recall. Parking it only will screw you down the road as recalls are time stamped. ( found that out the hard way ) Park it and wait to trade it down the road the first question will be , did you get an engine? I have a 22 and have not skipped a beat doing daily life with it .

I traded in my 2022 Tundra for a 2024 Tundra.

(Reason: I wanted the panoramic and front camera when parking and I also got the night shade (white) to eliminate the silver mustache on the front grill)

    Krusty,

I have thought the same thing and have gone back and forth with my wife on this.

She doesn’t want to use it while the recall is pending. Since the recall talks about losing control of the truck, and we are towing a trailer that we wouldn’t want to see get damaged or left on the side of the highway in Saskatchewan. So we have limited its use to around town minimal effort stuff.

I think that if Toyota didn’t issue the Safety Recall, we would be using it more. Perhaps this was a move to limit their exposure to future law suits by putting the choice to drive the truck in our hands. This is what I asked the very knowledgeable people at Toyota Canada and the response was call your dealer! The service manager has ghosted us for that last 4 months.

Coming back to Toyota after 40 years was based on the stellar reputation that we heard great things about.

This reputation has certainly been tested with our experience with Toyota Canada, the dealership and the quality of the build.

Toyota Canada has basically told us to go away and speak to the dealership. The dealership sales manager has told us that the truck is not wanted on the used lot. To top it off, the guys/gals that built the truck must have been drunk.

With that said we are still holding onto a hope that this purchase will not be one of the worst we have experienced.

My ex father in law used to work at the GM plant in Linden, NJ. He worked there for 30 years and was a raging drunk, so were half the other people that worked at the plant according to him. They would sneak alcohol into the plant everyday, going as far as to inject vodka into grapefruits using a turkey injector. Working a line doing the same thing over and over for 8 hours+ a day for 30 years would probably drive me to drink also. I love my Tundras but the final fit and finish compared to my 200 Series Heritage Land Cruiser that was made solely in Japan can't compare.

Traded my 22 in for a 24. Just before the recall. Got a crew max this time.
