Hey all, my parking sensors on the front bumper have started losing the black colored paint. Wondering if I can just repaint them or will a coat of paint make the sensor trigger?

I tried just hitting them with a black sharpie but that didn’t really work. Needs paint.
    Any advice?

I dont think they are painted, I have the chrome caps, but the sensors are just the black plastic. You may be able to clean them well and then coat them with Cerakote to restore the finish.

Maybe post a pic of what you are working with.

I think you can, but different sensors have different specs on MIL (thickness) of the paint, otherwise the sensor won't work. Don't have any idea what that is for the Tundra, but I would imagine something like Cerakote would be too thick. Maybe some of the body repair guys on here know.

I think if it were me and it came down to replacing them vs trying to paint them first, I might try VHT's Nightshades window tint paint first. Either that or just leave them as is and live with it.

Here’s a bad pic. Just looks crappy in my opinion. Sharpie didn’t set anything off, just not dark enough.
