    We have a kenmore model
110.66002010 dryer. It’s older but has worked well and I would prefer not to replace it. It keeps shutting off while drying - I initially took everything apart and cleaned the lint out of the lint trap and surrounding areas completely. That worked for a couple months.

it started happening again this week - shuts off about 5 minutes into drying cycle. Belt squeaks like crazy! So I think it’s either the high temp switch or the belt (or both). I can order both replacement parts for less than $100…..but is it worth it? And anyone know how easy it is to replace on these dryers?

Does the the whole thing shut off or just the heat?

Another possibility is the timer might be going out.

Do yourself a favor and replace all the rollers while you’re at it. Drum has to come out to change the belt anyway.

I have used them in the past - these parts were pretty standard across the board. Paid for a bit of expedited shipping so I hope to have the parts before new years

You can literally buy a used dryer for $100. I'd go that route.

we bought this one new and it has worked fine for years; I would rather get this one back to operating status and be done. I don’t usually purchase used appliances - just want to have something that works and I don’t have to worry about it.

Don't bother with anything but the thermal fuse until you get it running. None of the other stuff will cause it to not turn on.

A meter should be your first step. Should be a writing diagram inside the top panel, start with verifying correct voltage at the wall receptacle and work your way through. May just be something stupid like the door switch.

They stopped making those fridges, washers, and dryers that were bullet proof in early 2000’s unfortunately.

with all of the troubleshooting it seems like thermal fuse - it heats up too much and then turns off. Let it cool down for 15 minutes and restart and it works for a little while and off again. The belt started making a very high pitched squeal the last couple of loads so figured i would do that as well. And while I am in there do the pulleys and wheels as well. If that doesn’t work, I will just get a new one.

I had similar issues and found that a thorough cleaning of all lint from the dryer (took the whole dryer apart) was not sufficient. I cleaning out the entire dryer vent to the outside. I filled a 3 gallon bucket with the lint I was able to pull out. I used a combination of a 4" chimney sweep brush, a shop vac pulling at the outside, and another shop vac blowing from the inside. You may not need this much, but I have four 90's in my dryer vent (VERY poor design). Once I got it cleaned out, not only did the dryer start functioning properly, my clothes got dry much more quickly.

There are some dryer duct cleaning kits on Amazon which is essentially a brush with flexible shafts that allow you to go around deep bends and a round connector that you can hook up a shop vac to. As you use the brush to loosen up the lint you move it back to where the dryer connects to the duct and vacuum it out

I have had good success cleaning my dryer duct using a leaf blower jammed into the end by the dryer. The first time I used it, it blew lint about 30 feet across the yard. I clean the duct once a year now, as a preventative.

Right up my alley, does the control shut off like it has completed the cycle or does it still have time left?

My dryer started acting up right after the warranty expired. It would power on and tumble clothes but no heat. I scoured the internet for a solution and ended up replacing everything and i mean everything with no results. Turns out i had a wire burned up inbthe walll socket and it wasnt delivering 220v. All i had to do was snip the tip of the wire and i was back in business. Fwiw i got all the parts on Amazon and they were pretty inexpensive. Good luck OP

So with electronic control the only reason it will shut down early is if the moisture sensor is not detected any moisture on clothes, or motor is overheating and shutting down on motor thermal protection.and usually takes 15 minutes for it to cool down before u can restart

Try a timed dry cycle instead of automatic, if it’s still shutting down in five minutes probably the motor. If the motor is going bad they typically make a loud growl when first started.

If thermal fuse blows u have to replace it before dryer will start again, squeak is most likely idler pulley.

ot works completely normal and shuts off after about 10-15 minutes. Clothes are still wet and if I push the start button it just beeps.

the motor doesn’t growl. I will try a timed cycle and see what happens. Thanks for the advice.

Just let me know, I do whirlpool warranty work and that is a whirlpool dryer save ur money on rollers and all till u figure out what part is bad, worst case scenario is control is bad and that would mean new dryer.

If it’s taking 15 minutes before u can restart it that is most likely the motor. After it shuts off pull the plug out of wall and touch plug in terminals and see if any are hot, possibly bad receptacle

Yeah, our LG refrigerator had a 10 year warranty also but after 3 1/2 years it quit. Problem was, nobody withing a 50 mile radius would touch the thing, warranty or not. We had to junk it. I will NEVER buy another LG or Samsung appliance ever.
