I have Grille lights and have had them for a while and they worked perfectly wired up to the IGN fuse under the hood. I just got some posi-taps and wanted to run the lights to the amber DRLs on the headlight so that way they turn on and off with the truck and not the actual accessory turn of the key.

I looked up several threads and from my understanding the purple wire coming from the Turn signal plug on the truck side is the DRL for the Amber turn bulb. So i wired them up and boom they worked, or so i thought. They work while the truck is started and running just like i wanted, and don't work when the E Brake is engaged. But as soon as i go from Park to anything else R-N-D and the Grille lights shut off but the amber turn signal is still on.

If i turn the parking lights on ( First click on headlight thing) the grille lights turn on along with the little marker lights on the side of the headlight.

So i got my multimeter out and the purple wire when the truck is started is running 13.57 volts as soon as i shift from park it drops to 0. The red wire is then running the 13.57 Volts which assuming is keeping the amber light on. when i switch to parking lights the purple wire then gets the 13.57 again

am i doing something wrong? Should i just go back to the add a fuse on the IGN fuse and not try to wire them like this? i just wanted the grille lights to only be on when the amber bulbs were on. so if i'm sitting in my truck listening to the radio or something they are not drawing additional power from the battery.
