Anyone experience any issues with there driveshafts of slip joints? I'm getting a pretty noticeable I guess you could say clunk/bump on the 3-2 downshift. It could be doing it on other shifts built very noticeable during that shift. It seems to go away when its raining outside which makes me think its the slip joint. I've googled it but only really find issues on 2nd gen Tundra's, anyone with a 3rd gen have an issue or is there a TSB I'm unaware of regarding the driveshaft?

I've noticed this on mine. Seems to happen fairly predictably if I put in in S-3...like you mentioned the 3-2 down shift. When I greased the driveshaft, it seemed to go away for a week or so.

Yeah if I grease the DS it will dissipate some, I usually grease every oil change. Has anyone serviced the slipjoints? I know they have boots on them, maybe can be removed and greased? Not sure what they look like under the rubber boots.

My superduty slip yoke did not have a grease zerk, but it had a noticeable clunk at different shifts.

I cut the band off one side of the rubber boot, packed a good amount of grease inside it and got as much on the splines as I could reach. Then I used a hose clamp to secure the boot again.

Within a few days of the grease working itself into the splines the clunk was gone. I need to take a look at the Tundra and see if I can do the same thing.

I have not heard of any 3rd gen owners servicing the slip joints. I have read of some F150 owners having the same issue. Ford issued a TSB and the fix was cleaning out the splines and re-lubing with a special PTFE grease.
