My first post  after lurking here for a couple months. As a quick intro, I just sold a '15 Ford F-150 Lariat Fx4 that I was in love with but finally abandoned at 81k miles, after a P0420 CEL, freshly diagnosed leaking Ecoboost turbo coolant line (don't ever buy an Ecoboost! :bananadead:), decreasing mpg, and various cosmetic but expensive issues (binding AMP running boards, binding interior power sunshade) and returned to my tried-and-true but neglected safe brand. I was close to buying a new RAM 1500 but after lurking on their forums it scared me straight, back into a reliable brand, whew! :amen:

My reason for posting is, The dreaded creaking/popping driver seat. It was driving me nuts! After reviewing threads here, as well as on tundratalk, reddit & youtube, I saw many people complained about Taco and Tundra driver seats creaking, popping and having unwanted slop/give/play, due to a broken weld, etc.

At 12k miles my purchase of a CPO 2018 Tundra should not have this driver seat issue :sadviolin: The majority opinion on the interwebs was that this was a common issue that was ultimately resolved after lots of time wasted negotiating with dealers for the lucky few to get seat frames and entire seats & tracks replaced (I've seen multiple interweb-quotes in the $3-5k range  )

My dealer, which is next to Toyota HQ in TX, lubed the seat & frame and wrote a disappointing "Couldn't reproduce" in the service receipt. Even though my service advisor witnessed & agreed to the issue/complaint. While it appeared the popping and creaking might have diminished by 25%, it still creaked, popped and made a clear, loud discernible noise thereby tweaking my OCD to no end :boink:

Being a big guy I used to have the seat all the way down, and all the way at the rear end of the track, and tilted somewhat upright (not too far back or too far forward). No matter how I adjusted the tilt, it still popped and creaked upon braking/accelerating/turning, to no end.

I finally stumbled upon the solution on a forum and page that I can't currently remember, which was to move the seat forward by 1" and up by 1" (inch/click/notch), from the very far back of the track where I had it.

    WOW!!!! No more noise!

So, I thought I'd just document that solution here as well in the hopes of giving back to the inter-webs and that it might help someone else who may be suffering with their seat. It's still annoying that I can't have it all the way back and down like I like it, but if it means I need to click up one, and click forward one, from the far back, I can happily live with that "compromise" to never have to hear again, that damn popping/creaking/clicking.

I hope this helps somebody. Excited to be back among Toyota!

P.S. I know the picture is not that of a Tundra. Point of the picture is to visualize seat directional movement.

I just had mine fixed under warranty. It was a loose rivet or something.

Thanks for sharing, good to know. If mine returns I will ask for a deeper diagnosis.

Same thing happened with my moms 4Runner. I took it to the dealership and they ordered a new track and frame no questions asked. Fixed it the next week under warranty.
