If anyone has upgraded their door speakers or has any depth specs for the crewmax doors I’d like some help.
I’m currently looking to upgrade my 4 door speakers to JL Audio C1-650x. The depth is 2 1/2”. Crutch field says they won’t fit the rear doors. But if I use the adapters I found here on a few different threads, they should fit right?
    Any thoughts, similar installs, etc.?
As always I appreciate the help

The right adapter and they will fit.

It's the only thing I would buy from Taco-Tunes, but they make really nice thick adapters..

You'll have to google to find them, TT links can't be posted here.

For my rears I ripped out the stock speaker and used the OEM bracket.
Probably should have bought an adapter..

You might need to trim the door panel a little if they won't clear the new speakers..

BEAUTIFUL lol a lot more than expected but very much appreciated. So are those the brackets you used in the back as well? The photos on the website look thinner than yours installed

Scratch that I just re-read your reply

For the rears yes, I think.
    For the front no.
I could have with the TT adapters, but I had previously made my own adapters out 1' MDF and used bigger screws.
Even being painted the MDF started to absorb moisture and and flaking apart.
I then bought the TT adapters.

    If I had it to do over again;
I would have run the extra wiring and put the crossovers next to the amp under the passenger's seat.

I have replacement speakers mounted on Metra brackets and adapters, but because I'm whipped, I can't do it at home, so I'll be doing it at work on my breaks. I was considering mounting them on wrapped mdf, but water boarding was also my main concern. I asked the question about the brackets since I didn't want to make the trip to Home Depot, but I may have to take a few trips, or mount them in their parking lot, so I could just walk in, instead of driving back out, LOL...

Do you have to put a amp to run aftermarket speakers ?

No, but most factory/aftermarket head units won’t supply the same amount of power. Essentially not allowing aftermarket speakers to function at their full potential.
I’ve ran speakers both ways, I prefer having a separate amplifier but that’s just me. Doubtful I’ll do it with my tundra right away, thinking of saving money and making that part a project for another day.
