I've recently replaced 2 door lock actuators (with one more to replace soon). After replacing, they both worked just as they should. However, roughly 2 weeks after installing, the door locks are malfunctioning again...

I can lock either door from the inside, by pushing the lock button, or by moving the lock button to the lock position and then close the door. However, when you pull on the door from the outside, it WILL NOT stay locked, and the door will open.

HOWEVER, when I press the lock button on my key fob, all doors lock and stay locked.

Has anyone else heard of this or can give me a little direction? I'm thinking the actuators are faulty, but want to make sure it's not something further.. The drivers door started it first, and then the passenger door started malfunctioning 2 days later doing the same thing..

I'm thankful the doors still lock when it's not being driven, however it is a huge safety issue when getting stuck in traffic in the city... as I cannot have the doors locked while driving... All help is appreciated!!

Does your dome light turn off when doors are shut? If it thinks a door is open it will unlock them.

FWIW, on day 5 of ownership I fired up Techstream and disabled all that door lock unlock BS in and out of gear, when moving, when parked.

Question for you. Are these OEM or aftermarket actuators?

Also, how many times does you truck chirp from a single push unlock request from key fob?

    I appreciate your response!

The dome light is off. It's not that it unlocks all doors, the lock just won't "hold" and will open right up if locked from inside the cab. Kind of a "false lock" unless I use the keyfob.

They're aftermarket. The truck beeps twice with one click of unlock button.

Can you post the PN that came out left and right and make and model that went in?

I know others have had issues with none OEM parts and basically took the failed DC motor out of the new replacement and installed it in their original failed actuator.

The behavior you describe is very odd.

According to my VIN, I came up with:
    69040-06180 left
    69030-06200 right

And ya, each are north of $230 for OEM but I bet they work too.

And saw that it appears I can replace the chrome handles for black ones are these are all scuffed. Thanks for starting a new project for me!

This sounds like the issue I was having with my passenger door dock. I couldn't lock it with my hand as I would lock it and would open back up. They I would hit it with the fob and it would lock and not open. What I ended up doing is removing the door panel and spray lithium grease on the exposed locking cable right by the sheath cover. Then proceeded to lock and unlock the door by pulling and pushing the wire in and out. I also sprayed the actuator and repeated the same process. Now I would tape of sections of the door you don't want to stain, as it stained the bottom part of the glass. It can't be seen, but still. I did this back in 2016, and I've yet to have issues with it. This was the same year my master switch went as well and had to be replaced.
