    Hi All,

I recently purchased a 2015 Tundra TSS from CarMax and love the truck. But today I went to get a tire patched and the person at America’s tires noticed the door jamb sticker read 285 but it looks like 275 tires came with the truck when I bought it.

My question is, does anyone know why the door jamb sticker was updated, is this something specific to TSS? Has my truck been lifted and if so how would I verify this? Lastly is it safe to run 275 tires, I know these are the stock size but interested as the sticker says 285.

    Thanks

My 2018 came with 285/55/R20s as the stock tire with the TSS package.
You have not provided us enough info to help you. Provide all the tire dimensions to allow us to assist you.
It's possible that the previous owner replaced the 285s with 275s since often those are a little cheaper. But that is width of tire and without aspect ratio we can't tell if your current tires or larger or smaller than the 285/55/r20s.

    Alot of them
As @RobertD mentioned, the 275 width is usually cheaper than the 285. The previous owner most likely did it due to tire cost or wanted a tad narrower tire. You are safe running the current size.

And your speedo/odo/tripometer are likely all a little bit optimistic (read higher than actual) as the circumference of your tires are bit smaller than what the truck was originally calibrated for.

Discount Tire guy's motive for bringing this to your attention was not altogether altruistic. He was probably hoping to stretch your tire situation into you needing to buy a complete set of new tires right then. :D

When you need tires, you can fix this one wrong in the world by going with the tire size recommended on the placard. Or, if you're cheap like the PO, you can go back with the same size, if they're working for you.
