The cable that lets you open and close the passenger door (as seen in picture) unfortunately broke on me. Looks like the little nub that's on the very end has been grinded down after years of use. I took the door apart trying to attempt to replace the cable with a new cable I got from pull a part ( got a cable that looks pretty new and should last a while).

I'm stuck however, it seems like the end of the cable that's attached to the lock mechanism wont come off. And I cant get the lock mechanism off the door, because from what it looks like I would have to remove the window & motor? I must be looking at this the wrong way.

I wish I had more pictures to share at the moment, but I'm away from the truck at the moment. Will try to upload some more pictures if needed.

Has anyone ever had to replace one of these things that could give me some guidance?

I haven't had to replace mine, but there should just be a slow on either end where you insert the ball end into, so the cable seats. Sometimes they'll have a plastic clip that's attached (somewhere) that you use to lock the black cable housing in place, so the only thing moving is the braided wire.

When you buy replacement pull handles from Toyota, they come with two new cables already installed into the handle itself. The cables aren't prone to snap, and I'm not fully certain how they go into the handle part itself. I'd refer to how you removed the cable from the junkyard handle, or replace the handle assembly.

It might not be impossible in place but you almost have to take the door lock out to change out the cables considering how they are attached to the lock. Sequoia should be no different than a Tundra which means you do not have to take out window to access door lock to change cables. Plenty of youtubes on replacing or removing a Sequoia or Tundra door lock.

Is it possible to just replace the cable or do I have to replace the entire mechanism that you showed?

Sure it's possible. Simply posted the picture to show it would be pain in the ass to replace the cables without taking door lock assembly out as you have already found out.
