Update 2/4/19: thank you for the thoughtful feedback I made my decision in post #19

Which system quote would you pick? Do not want to DIY. Want to spend the extra for peace of mind to have a reputable shop do the install and provide parts so they can provide assistance down the road with any issues.

    Option A:

    20190130_111654.jpg
    Option B

    20190130_112438.jpg
Assuming the hertz components are ESKs. Leaning toward option b, lower cost, better amp, better door speakers. However option A includes a processor and not sure how critical that is?

Have you checking into OEM Audio + ?

Plug and play, for about $800 less, but w/o sound deadening in the doors.

I have not but I am really wanting someone to do the install because I have nightmares about ripping apart the interior of my truck and dont have the time not patience to really do it.

I wonder how critical it really is to have the AmpPro or any processor for that matter. Or if that's something I can have a shop upgrade add on down the road easily.

Cool. I've done my installs before, so not a biggie for me, but I understand. I have an OEM Plus system coming to me, because I liked not having to piece stuff together, and the install, as per their video, looks truly plug and play. The best of luck in whatever you decide!

Spend half that and get a system just as good or better from James at tech12volts and install yourself. He’ll help you through as much as it as you need.

    +1 on the OEM Audio+.
Plug and play, non invasive, removing the rear seat was the hardest part.
    Definite improvement.
I am jumping on the tech12volts gb to add some speakers as well.

Honestly I’d swap the headunit out first tho, oem ones suck.

Id hit up the tech12volt folks also.

From the looks of your quotes it seems you are deciding between a new front stage or adding a sub stage.

Tough choice imo, but a proper front stage is where i would spent the extra for a proper install and quality gear.

A sub stage doesnt really have to be that expensive these days. It can be, but theres alot of good value out there in class d amps and sub woofers.

I want to keep the stock head unit and I'm going to go with the first option but upgrade the door speakers from C2-650 to something better. May add a processor in to fine tune things down the road.

I want a shop to do the install. For me it's worth the extra cost as I dont have time or patience to do it myself and if anything goes wrong with the equipment or the install I can go back to the shop and theyll back up their labor and tuning with lifetime warranty. If equipment has issues they will cover the labor to remove and replace. Appreciate everyone's input. I planned to spend $2500 so the money is not so important to me at this juncture.

Speaking of processors, Dayton recently released one. Not sure what it offers for oem intergration but it does have high level inputs, so it may be an option for those keeping their stock headunits.

Its also only $150. That said, the features are mostly the basic ones.
Independent eq per channel, preset crossover points and bandpass, time alignment...

Im probably not helping much since you already have a lot that you have to decide on, but it is a pretty good recieved piece of audio gear.

You thought about going with raw drivers? Like some Sb acoustics and sea? Fantastic drivers without the car audio price mark up.

He will get you what you need and no extra fluff. I'd be willing to bet he will save you a ton of money by being much more honest with you than those two shops who quoted you. And the fact he can find you a trustworthy installer is a huge plus.

Personally I would go with neither and DIY. Yes it’s a pain in the ass because the entire interior needs to basically come out and it took me the whole weekend. But worth it. And it was MUCH cheaper than all of that.

But this trucks interior was a cake walk to take apart. With the exception of the friggin front seat bolt covers.....Never has a profanity laced tirade echoed throughout the neighborhood quite like trying to get those metal clips to release.

Dsr1 took care of eliminating the JBL amp and worked flawlessly.

Talked with him but for what I want to do it makes more sense to go with previous quotes. He did offer good options for DIY. I will not DIY.

I tried hard to keep my oem headunit too, ended up wasting time and money trying to get it to my standards lol. Just never sounded right to me. Hope you have better luck with it
