Morons. Stopped by the dealership to grab a set of rear pads for the Tundra. looking online MSRP shows $69.99 and most folks are charging $53-$64 shipped that I could find.
I need them now so even if I pay $70 no big deal.
So I pull in the lot. Wow, I count 31 cars both new and used available for sale that is it. When we bought my wife’s Highlander many years ago they had 11 used Highlanders alone for sale. So I would guess this lot usually has 400 cars total for sale.
Anyway walk up to the parts counter and ask for the rear pads. They say sure that will be $89.65 I said just for rear pads? They say yup. I say not a chance I am paying that and leave.
Just left the dealership on the opposite end of town.
    $54!!!!!

Yep....I look up the prices on Sparks and go to the counter. Most of the time they will match it.

I mentioned how I had seen prices from $53-$64 and honestly did not care to pay a bit more because I need to put them on before Monday.
    Nope.

I am all for paying slightly more to keep things local but not close to double. Especially when I drive across town and get it much cheaper.
Hell, they wanted $20 over MSRP.

I’ve been waiting on TRD rear brake pads for two months from my dealership. The price was comparable to online, but neither are in stock. They’ll call me when they come in LOL

I order online out of their stealership website and pick up at the counter, just to give them traffic, cuz in person for me its double MSRP, yes 100% markup and they don't match online prices out of their own site... Its way cheaper, no shipping and get them a sale I guess... since it drops into their system...

I dont understand this at all but if I order from a Local Stealers parts website the parts are ALWAYS a lot cheaper than if I go in and get them?

So I order them and they come in before 7 am the next day and I go there and pick them up!?

    How does that make sense?

Yes.... I could tell you for me the front brake rotors on an 07 Tundra at the counter are $150 each plus tax, but are $60, or $59.99 online plus tax depending on where I get them it may be less than Rockauto, so I order them online and I get a additional fee choices if I want them shipped. Usually based on weight may be $60 or more for next day, $45 for 2 day or $30 for sometime in the next 7 days prices are more or less from what I remember.... Or, I cold pick them up tomorrow for free99... so, my stealership is about 2 miles away, so it will cost me less to drive there and pick them up instead of getting them shipped, I usually buy pads as well, which I consider free based on the counter price.... Makes pretty good sense to me...
