For instance, I roll my truck on its side or roof, break some steering components, or peel a door side on the trail, will my comprehensive coverage pay for it? I have Progressive, but I'm wondering how that typically works, in general.
    Thanks!

If it's an unmaintained road, I highly doubt it.

You can probably get some insurance company to underwrite it but I highly doubt it would be cost effective.

Most policies cover "normal" usage so it sort of depends on the situation. If you're driving down an off-road route normally traveled by road going vehicles and hit something you are likely covered. If you are doing some crazy rock-crawling and roll it over you are not likely to be covered.

Why would you tell them you were off roading? Just hit a ditch and it rolled on its side. Rock crawling with a Tundra, come on !!!

    Progressive?

    Good luck

I had them for 4 years and hit a deer. I had to get the state insurance commissioner office to get my truck fixed. They quadrupled my rates the day after i made the claim and took 3 months to fix the truck properly.

    Progressive sucks

The loss would fall under your collision coverage if its even covered. Pull out your policy and read it you should be able to find it on your app

Stay away from progressive if you want your truck fixed right. They will fight you L&R.

USAA covered my ex's F150 when he hydro locked it offroading. They called it an "at fault accident" and I only had to pay $500 for a new engine.

Certainly the best way of knowing for sure would be to ask your insurance company directly.

Yup, was going about to say USAA for the win. They came in and got my truck towed down from the top of a mountain at Shaver Lake beginning of the year. A $3000 tow and I just paid up to $500 for what the shop found when they inspected it. The USAA rep told me that whatever the found they would write it up as “at fault” since there wasn’t any other vehicles involved

I don't see why it wouldn't be covered there's no exclusions I'm aware of regarding off roading, or it must be CLEALRY listed in exclusions.

Just seen a recent claim a guy was driving on old logging roads to a hunting spot a utv slid into the side the truck causing front to rear damage, the utv fled the scene pickup driver's insurance covered all damages minus deductible. Coverage played a major role here without underinsured/uninsured pickup driver could've had a different outcome.

I have Farmers and I have any and all damage covered specifically including offroad at my request, however, my agent is a relative so that no doubt played a part in it.

Best to call and ask Progressive. When I was looking for insurance for my adventure motorcycles, most of the companies I checked with wouldn't cover the motorcycles because I was off-roading with them. Progressive was one of the few companies that was willing to cover them. Within my first year with Progressive I had to file a claim for one of my motorcycles being run over in a parking lot. Progressive was very easy to deal with and fixed everything through my local dealership.

I honestly dont know the details and havent looked through the policy since my agent is family and I trust them completely enough to take their word for it without checking myself. I guess my point here was that it is possible to get the coverage.

I only ask out of curiosity never heard of such of thing. Possibly different coverage options for different states or farmers exclusive coverage option

I will say that farmers is pretty much the most expensive insurance that I have seen in my limited research so these kind of options may be the reason why.
