I see almost everyone with chrome on their 2022 tundra deleting it. Is there anyone who likes their chrome, or better yet wants to swap for chrome? Does Toyota do these design ques because they think it looks good, or bc they know there is millions to be made with people buying parts after buying their trucks?

I would imagine that there are many more thousands of us who like/love the looks of our trucks as they came from Toyota than are concerned about removing the chrome.

I like the chrome. That’s why I ordered a Capstone. Lots of other top trim levels have plenty of chrome (Denali, High Country, Long Horn, Limited). Toyota is competing against those trucks, not previous Tundras.

I agree that most buy and drive liking the look from the factory. Toyota/Jeep amongst others are notoriously altered or modified, and I've noticed a lot of "chrome delete". I was just curious others opinions.

I don’t like the chrome simply because it doesn’t belong. Everything else on the truck is blacked out (wheels and badges) from the factory. But that’s just my opinion and everyone is different. I may be the minority in this after reading a lot of the responses in this thread. Idk why Toyota did it this way but I’m sure they have their reasons and did their research.

I wanted a rear locker so I went with the OR and only the sport comes with body color match. Everyone has their own taste. In my own opinion, the sport looks the best except for the grill. I wish they made the OR with the sport style but keep the OR grill. That said, I would rather get the rear locker and MTS and deal with chrome which I can easily delete. Just an extra cost I wish I didn’t have… but that is a want, not a need. I still love the new tundra and just as great to drive regardless.

That's fair and I agree. I bought a limited and the accents ony truck incude chrome, brushed chrome, matte black, gloss black and grey. Just doesn't seem cohesive.

I bought my MGM TRD OR SR5 (whoa that’s a lot of acronyms)…and made a decision to get rid of the chrome but now I think I have gotten used to it so I am second guessing myself

Biggest reason…well I also got Gunmettal wheels which I love and realized I don’t want a fully blacked out truck and want ‘something’ to break up all that dark color scheme.

No offense to folks who love the murdered out look (nuff respect)…and in my MGM color I didn’t think it would be as dark as it is but with our rainy/overcast weather and needing some lines that pop I am slowly deciding to keep thee chrome stache and rear inserts (only chrome pieces on the truck).

so…not that I like or love the chrome but realizing it works in my application :notsure:

Hate the Chrome. What's funny is my SR5 came with a black out emblem kit and then the tailgate insert is chrome. LOL make up your mind toyota!

I like a tasteful amount of chrome. I think Toyota mostly gets it right. Bumper end caps chrome? Yes. Entire bumper chrome? No. I've gone back and forth about the chrome surround on my grille (2019 sr5) but honestly with the DRL's from the pro LED headlights, it accents and flows very well imo. But some of the older platinum grilles, limited grills and even the SR5 grilles inserts and surrounds that were all chrome? That's too much. Color match the door handles and side view mirrors or black out. But chrome? Also eww.

Also, the TRD off road wheels (machined, not chrome but close) mixed with the black is a very tasteful combo IMO.

To echo another member above, I looked at a Cement truck 1 bumper was color matched, the other was chrome. And it was factory that way. BiPolar bumper. No thanks.

To clarify, I'm not tossing a turd in the punch bowl over anyone else's truck or taste, simply sharing mine.

I'm personally not a fan of chrome unless its done right. Like my Lariat F150, which didn't even come with the chrome package, is not my favorite. I'd love to color match my bumpers and grill. Same with my Lexus, it has chrome around the grille and little doodads here and there that I wish were body matched but it seems like a monumental task to have them painted so I just deal with it.

That said, there are versions of the F150 where I like the chrome. The limited trim F150's look good and I don't dislike the Capstone, although both of them almost seem to have more of a machined look vs straight up shiny chrome.

I have a silver sky limited and I like a mix of chrome here and there but that’s because it is a silver truck. Probably be different if I had any other color and would be on the dechrome band wagon. Comes down to what is your preference.

Respectfully, the 3rd gen Tundras do not have chrome on them. All I have seen so far is like a brushed silver looking plastic. Chrome is a very specific, mirror finish silver.

Depends on the trim.... Limited has a satin look to it, and platinum (i think) has a black chrome... but the SR5 trims will have standard chrome on some packages, like the TRD OR for example...

I like what little chrome my SR5 has, bumper ends and grill surround on MGM. I think if it was blacked out, it would look like the cheapest base model possible.
I think some trucks look good blacked out with say red, blue or bright colors. Look at all the Muscle cars with black hoods, stripes etc. just my 02

Done chrome, done right as a cohesion look is nice. On my limited chrome is one of 4 accent trim pieces. It's a little annoying spending 65k only to have to "unify" the look

To each their own I guess. In my case, I really don't mind my truck being visible on the road. Especially in bad weather/road conditions.Resized_20190716_075104[6877].jpg

Truck trends and fads are cyclical. I forecast chrome being back "in" as it was in the 80s-90s

…and it’s more like “chromed plastic” which I don’t know if it’s better or worse that the chrome end caps the 2nd gens have.

But it’s tastefully done on some trims, mix/matched on a few others and just loud on others.
…and looks better in certain applications/colors than others as you can imagine.
