DO NOT BUY! - Winjet Tail Lights from i1Motor - Limited Time Discount

IMPORTANT UPDATE (7/25/18):
The ones I received are going to have to be returned because the passenger side blinker doesn't work. At this point I have to recommend NOT BUYING ANY WINJET TAIL LIGHTS AND TO NOT DO THIS DEAL! Winjet gave me the link to the retailer and said they drop ship directly for them. The retailer is not at fault here. Winjet is solely to blame. In my eyes Winjet basically lied about their product and they do indeed have quality control issues. As far as I'm concerned all Winjet products are now absolutely suspect.

I've been in touch with Winjet the past several days trying to figure out why they've had so many bad reviews and why some of their tail lights seem to have issues while others are just fine. Apparently they've had issues with fake headlights being made by some manufacturer and then getting supplied to Amazon and eBay sellers. Here was their reply:

"Thank you for the inquiry. It's unfortunate to inform you that there is another company who as trade mark their name and someone replicated our products and distributing them. We have been working extensively to figure out how resolve this issue of ours. We have received complaints of sellers selling our product but they are part of our distributing list. The only leads us to believe they someone is supply products like ours to them. Various issue from these purchase are brought to us but we are unable to assist them as they are not from our company. The issue various from the issue you mentioned from severe moisture/condensation build up, LEDs not working, and arriving damage. Any purchases made from a Winjet distributor will not have this issues and we do our best to create outstanding products. If you are interested n the lights, can you let us know which of the colors schemes below you would like and we can direct you to a supplier of ours that you can purchase from."

So I inquired about who their legitimate distributors are and they gave me the contact info for i1Motors. I reached out to them and they were gracious enough to give us a limited time discount code that SoCal Tacomas had used (it cut out the red tape for us to just reuse it ).

They didn't give me a hard cutoff date, but said it would only be active for a couple of weeks. The code is for 15% off and free ground shipping.

Their lights are already really competitively priced so this is one helluva deal!

Pretty positive it’s not a native English speaker. The brand is Chinese I believe.

 

I ordered the Winjet tail lights originally, and they were garbage. Read reviews on the Autosaver brand, which is identical, and ordered them. No issues, I’ve had them about a year.

In my case, the ones without the Winjet brand were better. Not sure what that indicates. I think a few others have had the same experience.

 

You might have gotten the fake ones. We'll see how this goes. I'm always willing to give a company a chance to redeem themselves. If these end out having issues then it'll at least be definitive!

I've updated the OP. Looks like Winjet does indeed have problems. Do NOT take this deal please! Thank you i1Motor for working with me, it's not your fault. Maybe we can put something else together in its place.

 

I wonder what the difference is between these and the Autosaver brand is. I returned my Winjets because they didn’t fit, but the Autosavers did. I’ve had them close to a year with no issues.

You’ll see a big difference in the reviews between these and the Winjets.

 

Almost positive those are Winjets. I went to the Autosaver88 website and they don't offer them there, so I'm pretty sure they're just another retailer for them. At least one person had blinker issues as well. Not gonna even take a chance. Fool me once...

Ok, I ordered these to begin with:

They wouldn’t come close to snuggling up to the body. They left about a 1/4” gap all round them. The plastic around the edges was very rough, actually flaking in a couple of places, and one spot looked like shavings were coming off of it. There were spots that seemed hazed in the plastic. They overall felt cheap.

I really liked the look of the lights, and came across these that looked identical:

I requested a return for the first ones, and ordered these. If they had the same issue, I would have returned them also. They didn’t. They fit well, though not exactly perfect, but good enough for me. I’ve been happy with them ever since.
Is it possible the first ones with your brand name were counterfeit, and the second ones were real? Looking back, that’s how I would describe them- a cheap knock off of what I have now. The second set was actually heavier. I hadn’t sent the others back when I got these. Both of these purchases took place in September of last year, if that helps.

That's where I'm leaning. I don't like Spyder because I've had issues with both their headlights and tail lights on other vehicles, and I don't really care for the look of any of the others. I was looking at either a tint or an actual cover along with some really bright LEDs to shine thru them. Was looking at these tail light covers. Not sure if anyone has experience with them:

I know when I was hooking them up to test them I was already worried about the seal as it didn't look very water-tight. I had planned on taking them to the car wash after installing them, but obviously didn't get that far.

 

I think those may be to dark. Spray or wrap may be my route.

Arrived well packaged.
The holes to install were not straight had to go in at a slight angle.
After going through the carwash, the tailgate side of the lights are murky and has condensation in them.
Halfway down both lights (facing tailgate) on the edge is a sharp 1"edge from the molding.
RH side okay, LH side has problems.
LH side first piece came with the bottom side marker LED out and the top side marker LED facing at an angle not attached to the board.


LH side second piece came with the bottom side marker LED still not working. But at least the top LED marker is attached and facing the right way.


Date of manufacture... 01.18.18

 

I can't believe all the issues with these lights. Seems that they use cheap out of the Country manufacturing with no quality control. Glad I didn't place my order yet.

 

Guess we will never hear from Jeff again.

 

Yeah, no telling. I sent him a PM about this but he didn't reply. He's got plenty of examples of problems to use.

 

Maybe he will give us a group discount when they figure out the issues.
