Getting ready to order color matching hood bulge & TRD Pro grille. I was told by Sparks that I didn’t need the sensor cover plate ( part#: 53141-34010) sine I already have the TSS. Even sent a picture of my current front end. Question is do I or do I not need the sensor cover plate? Want to make sure cause they want $363.30. Please let me know before I order.

Yes, you need to have a cover in front of the sensor to protect it from debris. Unless you want it going off constantly every time it rains or gets a little dirty. Nothing from your front end goes in that spot as it is a completely different grille.

You can gamble on the ebay or Amazon alternatives. 50/50 shot if they work without errors or not.

My Pro grille is OEM and the color match was spot on.

He doesn't have that grille. You may get an answer asking in the thread he linked, but I'm also not sure what you mean about color matching? The grilles are just black or a light grey. There won't be any other parts to "match" as they replace the center of the grille. It also states that it is an aftermarket grille if you follow the link to high country.

Ok, I’m leaning on going OEM.

I'm curious, what year is the truck. I see the camera in the windshield so assuming it has the sensors in the grill. I have a 2020 and just got done color matching mine from Sparks and purchased the sensor cover plate and have not had any issues. My biggest issue was the long waits from Sparks due to global back order on my color for the hood bulge, MGM. Others here have gotten after market sensor plates, some have had error codes, some haven't, etc. I didn't feel like having any issues and paid high price for OEM. I have been told that its made of special material that works with the sensors, like a ceramic glass or something. I believe you get what u pay for and id rather pay once for the right part than twice for the wrong part and then the right part.

He said he has the TSS, so it's at least a 2018. There's no antenna sticking up, so that would make me think it's a 2020+ unless he replaced it with a low profile antenna.

The front camera that is being referred to is in the triangle in the dark square above your detector.

Gotcha, sorry. I didn't realize that it had a front camera and how do you use it?

You need it. OEM has been trouble-free.

Just placed my order, hopefully nothing on back order. Also ordered the driver side grab handle.

It's not a camera like a dash cam. It's a camera that sees pedestrians, objects, radar cruise distance etc as part of the TSS system.

I rolled the dice on an aftermarket garnish and have had zero issues. Toyota dealer even recalibrated it as part of a recall and didn’t bat an eye.
