DMX1057XR Question

For those that have added this receiver and had the JLB system, is there anything in the menu or preferences options on the OEM head unit you lost that you wish you still had? Like any of the custom settings? I have a platinum and was curious on this as I know there is things you get 3-5 years of that you might lose or there maybe things you can set up on the OEM unit that may not be on the Kenwood. I am just getting acquainted with the thought of changing, but I can attest the stock unit sucks.

 

I installed the

$1,599 DNR1007XR eXcelon 10.1" High Definition Navigation Car Stereo Receiver with Capacitive Touch Panel

DNR1007XR (same family), and did not lose anything from the OEM setting.. You will need to add a Maestro RR or RR2 in order to get access to the OEM and steering wheel controls. This is the unit that sits between the headunit and the CanBus system of the Tundra, and handles all of the integration. Mostly plug and play.....

 

1037s and RR2 here... All the menu functions for vehicle settings are still there. Remote start still works, Toyota SOS works, Android app still works. Lost nothing, got a better head unit.

I have a 2020 Platinum and I lost ZERO functionality after adding the 1057xr, I also absolutely love the new radio and audio system.

 

Same here...I love the 1007 well worth adding Nav in my opinion.

 

I wish I could get my texted messages thru it without having AA on

 

Instead of AA can you just bluetooth connect your phone?

 

It's is and I still don't get the texts notifications

 

Do you get phone calls via BT? IF not, you probably have only music connected and not phone. Android allows for either or both. I intentionally don't connect the phone portion to BT.

 

I get phone calls, music, an address book. I have check all the phone settings and head unit settings So I guess it doesn't have the ability to receive texted messages.

 

Sorry to revive an old thread guys, but I’m curious if any of you had to replace your SiriusXM tuner or if you’re able to buy an adapter to retain the factory tuner and GPS antenna? Also while I’m at it, what about the factory BT microphone? I’m speaking specifically with the Kenwood DMX1057XR or the

Also, does anyone know if the DRV-A601W 4K camera or the DRV-A501 is compatible with the 1057 or the 1007? Seems like all they list is the N520 camera for these radios? I wanted something nicer with more memory card capacity…

 

You cannot use the factory microphone without cutting the amplifier to that microphone. I ran mine out the back of the radio, through the driver's side dash, up the driver's side A pillar where I attached it to the head liner in the upper corner of the glass. It's not in an obvious spot and has worked really well for me so far. Visor doesn't get it it's way there either.

I didn't buy the SirusXM tuner, but yes, you would need to buy that tuner also. There is an addon module for the kenwood radios to take care of that for you.

I have the 1037s which is basically the same as the 1057.

 

Swore I had everything needed here to install this, but I’m missing how to retain the factory FM antenna here. Did I miss ordering an adapter?

Not sure where you are located but I took mine to Sound of Tri State in Dover DE for the install/replacement etc...etc....

Love it. Looks great. Sounds fantastic. Yes I still have blue tooth through the android, can use my map on the phone and it would show up on screen if I opted to do that too, still has the backup camera on the screen, and still has Sirius.

Was pricey as they replaced every factory speaker and put the JL audio sub specific for our Tundra crew max in, an amp for the four main door speakers and the sub, and the inline extras to retain steering wheel controls etc...etc...etc....

But we'll worth the coin if you ask me.

Added bonus on this Kenwood is I can still rock some old school CDs.

I just purchased my truck and it had a Kenwood DMX 1037S installed. However, the microphone doesn't work when I make a phone call. I can hear the person on the other end but they can't hear me. Is it a simple setting change or am I missing something?

 

You need the mic installed and plugged in.

 

The only thing you lose is the the gps info on the gauge cluster’s multi screen. I thought music would go too, but the RR2 does a nice job and all of that info comes over.

 

I looked through the box and found the mic. I'll give it a try. Thank you.

 

Did you ever hook up an HDMI cable to the back of the unit? Heard two things the newer cables won't work and you have to disconnect carplay to get it to work???
