I just pulled the triggered and bought a pair of Bilstein 5100 for $295 OTD. Decided to do it myself and got it done. I did the passenger side first and that took me a while. But driver side was a breeze with the experience i learned from passenger side. Total was under 4 hr.
And wow what a difference!! I love the ride quality now. Going into turns is so nice, no more leaning to the side. Going over bump or railroad tracks, pothole is so smooth. Going fast on curved onramp no more body roll. I should have done it much sooner if i knew the ride is this nice.
But i just got 1 little concern though, if anyone could let me know, i would greatly appreciate it. So according to Bilstein specs, top setting will give me about 2.25" lift, but i got exactly 3" on both side. Is that normal? Do they need time to settle in and after time they will lower to 2.25"? The reason I ask is because my intention was to level it, so i expected top setting will give me perfect level if it is 2.25", but now it's 3" so i have about an inch rake in the front.

Below is before and after number:
Front: drive side: before: 36" after 39"
passenger side: before: 36.5" after 39.5"

Rear: drive: before: 38.5" after: same 38.5"
Passenger: before: 38.5" after same 38.5"
So now i have 0.5" front rake on drive side and 1" front rake passenger side.

Any input on why it's 3" instead of 2.25"?

P/s: i made sure the springs are in its groove and all the original rubber and metal washers are in the right order.

Do mine next! I need to pair up my new self-installed rear 5100s to a set up front, but am looking for no lift at all, so the lowest setting possible.

Alignment is necessary after this too, right? Needing new tires and don't want to have to do anything twice

@MedCityMoto : do it, you sure will love it. According to Bilstein specs, even lowest setting will give you a small lift, about 0.5" or 0.75" if i remember correctly.
Alignment is needed, especially if you loosen the camber bolts.
Same here, my tires are in its 3/32 tread. I will get a new set of wheels and tires for the lift.
