Has anyone looked into upgrading to the digital rear view mirror? Is it possible to just remove and replace? I have a limited TRD OF with pano roof and limited power package.

The mirror assembly alone is $2347. Not sure wiring & rear camera stuff...Aftermarket would prob be a better bet.

The trouble you have is in where to mount the camera with a traditional truck/truck bed. We offer the GENFDM3LN from Gentex at the link below but, if you read the install manual, you'll notice everything is relative to an SUV.

Wow I didn't realize the cost for just the mirror, pretty costly for what it is.

    Bumping @incredibillhulk's question...

Has anyone retrofitt'ed the digital rear view camera that came on their Gen 3 Tundra onto a shell/camper or installed an after-market setup on a shell/camper?

I have the digital rear view mirror option and never use it because it messes with my eyes while driving for some odd reason. Probably cuz I'm old and fart alot

I was just thinking the same! My Limited has the cameras, just not the mirror. Figured it would be expensive, but...

    NOT nearly that expensive! :eek::eek2:

Welp. It wont be hard to make this decision. No fancy mirror for me.

I usually end up turning mine off, haven't been able to get used to the view yet.
Knowing the cost of them, I may sell it to pay for a bed rack

That’s a popular opinion on these mirrors on other brands too.

For those that have the digital rearview mirror already, try if you can get used to it. I really like mine. The image is wide and clear even at night. It reduces blind spots. It's not obstructed by tall passengers. The image is visible even to my passengers.

Not really "dim" per se, but the image isn't distracting at night at all.

Headlight glare from the video definitely less intense than a regular mirror.

I didn’t spend the money to just swap out stuff.
Yo, I only keep the digital camera view on. I like to see people without them seeing me. I also like peeping folks reactions when they are behind me and can see themselves through my rear window.

Surprised by how many have said they don't like the digital rear view and never turn it on. The only time I turn it off is when I need to see into the back seat for some reason, like the dog is back there. I remember when I got the truck it certainly takes a few days to get used to not seeing in the back seat, or seeing yourself in the mirror if you try, but once you get over the initial weirdness of it I never want a regular rear view mirror again. As @topdec said, the image is wide, reduces blindspots, view is not blocked by anything/anyone in the back seat. In addition the camera has very good low light capability and when driving at dusk the image in the mirror is even brighter than outside making it easier to see.

I'm a fan of the digital mirror but haven't used it at night yet. For me it does have an initial...I'll say double-vision when I start to glance at it. Once my eyes finish getting over there it's perfect. I don't know if that sensation will go away in time but I can live with it if it doesn't. Each time I've switched back to the standard mirror I've immediately switched back to digital wondering why I changed it. Each time I've gotten into our Highlander I've missed my digital.

If the mirror assembly is indeed $2,347 it just further justifies the Platinum Extended Warranty. So many electronics are not covered by the standard warranty.

Holy crap!! Is that right - $2347 !!! Just got my Limited 2 days ago and it doesn’t have it. I thought that was part of the PVM/BSM package. I had no option to add the digital mirror and never saw it listed separately in any of the packages. The Limited I test drove had it. I wanted it for increased safety for my wife eliminating the blind spots created by the rear seat and cab corners. Oh well, some $1 fish eye bubbles on the mirrors will have to do !! At least they’ll never fail and aren’t affected by raindrops like the cameras are, and we get lots of those!!

Are you sure you don't have it? Pic of your mirror?

EDIT: I said the same in this thread and it turned out I was wrong.
