I use the royal purple differential fluid. It has the limited slip additive already in it.It comes in the correct weight. I just changed mine in my 2013 tundra last month.

A side note.....We do not have a true LSD. We have an open diff.

So would adding a limited slip additive hurt anything?

1st Gen’r here. 02’ spec’d at straight 90w LSD in the rear. I put in Mobil1 75w-90 synthetic as the straight 90w cannot be found anywhere even the stealership. Had some grumbling going on after the Mobil 75w-90 install, so went to the heavier weight Lucas Dino 80w-90 LSD. No problems.

Probably best to follow as close to the manual in your case 75w-85.

BTW the Mobil 75w-90 works great in the front diff and transfer, as its spec’d for those areas of the 02’. For some reason, the back diff no likey.

I’ve heard too much is not good. Study your manual and trust it. You don’t need LSD if its not spec’d. Stay 75w-85 if you can get it.

Lsd additive won't hurt anything. It just gives better lubrication to the clutches. It will also help on bearing life.

I used the royal purple differential fluid. It's already in it and it is full synthetic. I use it in my 2000 tundra and the royal purple trans fluid and it has 370,000 miles.
