We were talking about this at work. What are the differences between an OEM head unit with a line out converter such as an Audio Control LC7i and amps versus an aftermarket head unit and amps?

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
The latter is Better. That's the Only way I've ever replaced/added in a stereo to a vehicle.

Using a high level speaker input converter to low level RCA is not really High Fidelity, noise is introduced which may be heard depending on other variables. Do it the right way, aftermarket HU/amps. You won't regret it.

A High Level Converter really just takes the already amplified signal, distortion and all and knocks it down so another amp can do the same thing again.

Like said above you really want to start off with a Line Level Signal if you can and just amplify it once.

OEM radios usually do not have RCA outputs for amps, that is why you would to need something like the audio control LC7. Most aftermarket head units have RCA outputs so you can add aftermarket amps. But not all enough outputs , some only have one. If you plan to run a multi channel amp, I would recommend getting one that has front, rear, and sub output. If using aftermarket radio, generally you will get better sound using the RCA outputs built in, therefore no need to use LC7
