Rear wheels locking up at speed is scary as hell. I think id rather have a dead stick than an unexpected lockup.

Speaking from experience, a dead stick is just as scary as wheels locking up, since you get no warning whatsoever. Locking of the wheels at least sorta warns drivers around you via them skid marks behind you. My SC400 dies sometimes below 40mph if I'm not paying attention to the tach. I've stalled out on the freeway and in the far-left lane at full stops when I get distracted and let off the gas.

It's interesting to me that the issue is described as a "transmission valve" but the recall is specific to two engines that have different transmissions.

This is the transmission cooler solenoid valve. Same design, different applications.

I always recommend purchasing the thermal bypass kit for these trucks (75-85.00). Fixes the problem entirely. Solenoid valves fail over time. This new software will give you warning and at least you will not have a major failure.

Not sure why owners are not watching transmission temperature via the gauge supplied from the factory. "Huh...transmission temps are at 260*....maybe I should stop what I'm doing..."

I've been saying it for years. They are pricing themselves out of business. Anyone else think Toyota should scoop up Nissan?

Why would they buy their competitors problems? Let Nissan go the way of Dodge.

Meh, been down the Dodge / Ram road. Pretty, but generally poorly engineered and executed vehicles. My buddies haven’t had great luck either.

I'm on the fence with a ram 2500. I don't want GM trans problems or fords fuel problems.
Thinking about boxing the frame on the tundra, throwing some ridiculous leaf packs and an older Toyota 1 ton (dana 60 front axle) under it
I'll build the damn HD tundra that Toyota refuses to sell me.

Regardless of how I feel about their products, (not a fan) I would truly hate to see RAM, Jeep, Chrysler fail, but with Stellantis at the helm, it would not surprise me.

My three previous trucks were all rams and all over 90k miles when I sold them or totaled it. No issues, all different trims from the 4th gen. The forums looked a lot like this one, besides the Eco Diesel I had. That was more like the 3rd gen threads. But all in all, I had zero complaints or issues.

I have heard some did, but never directly in my circle. Of course, my circle also includes some of the hardest up Ford guys I have met...

To each their own. For me, I just hope nothing happens to this Tundra as I dont want to shop for trucks again. I do miss those actual cooled seats the most though.

I truly agree with the back half of your statement. The same for Ford and GM. I hope they all pull their heads out sooner than later.

Yeah, my buddy is on his second Eco diesel (hard headed). First one was a disaster, current one is going strong. Transmission. in the Ram is a good one, the 8 speed ZF is world class. You can get cooled seats in a Tundra, the platinum and 1794 models had them in the 2.5.
