Did this little plastic hole-plug fall off my truck? Doesn’t look too important… just something to close off a hole in a piece of sheet metal, if anything. It’s about the size of a US/Canada $.25 coin.

    Thanks for your time!

I know that these are found on the control arms, you could check that.

Go under the truck and look at the frame.
You may see other plugs like that around the underside of the truck.

Pull back your carpets and see if it is a floor plug. There have been reports of water in the cab soaking everything.

I found one of those too. I saved it thinking it fell off the truck too.

Anybody in here PDI these things? I wonder if they deliver to the dealership without them and maybe they just dropped one in your truck when they were putting them in?

If these are the ones you are referring too, they're flat without the impression.

They don't match the ones on the tailgate either. The plugs on the frame, that I found, were also flat like the control arms.

Was the front or rear of the truck parked where you found this part?

So, can we assume it came from the engine compartment, perhaps?

Crawled around under the engine bay, had the hood open, and checked the front wheel wells again. No dice.

Did you ever find where this plug goes? I found a plug near my front right wheel well but cannot locate where it came off.

I found one in my drive way the other day on the wife's side. I thought it came off her car but I did park over there recently to unload lumber. Exact same one as OP. I assume it landed flat with the exposed side on the ground because its a little scuffed on that side. Its plastic. The tailgate, drivers door and the floor penetrations are all rubber. The plug for the LCA is plastic. I wonder if it came from the firewall?

They are all over underneath. In the 3rd Gen Taco, our first year editions in 2016 were playing tunes like a flute on the fwy because they didn't plug any of the holes.

There are floor pan plugs all over these trucks. My money is it is one of them. You’d likely have to pull the carpet back to see most of them.

The plug is from the rocker panel under the doors. Lay down and look up to see the hole where it belongs. When you washed it you knocked them out.

I tried. They look like the ones on the 2.5 gen and was thinking they would be the same.

Appreciate the help, sincerely as I do the other members. One day, before I reach the end of life's runway, I will know the mystery behind this stupid plug.
