Did I over-tighten the leaf spring shackle bolt?

When I replaced my leaf springs, I used Total Chaos lowering shackles, with the grease-able poly bushings. Before they were on the truck, I got grease into them without issue. They were squeaky from the start, but I assumed that's just a poly bushing...

Anyway I've been waiting to install 90-degree zerks, since I couldn't get at the straight zerks. I finally got around to it today. No matter what I do, I can't get grease into the zerk. Either the straight zerk, or the 90-degree zerk I'm replacing it with. I'm locked onto it, but grease just squeezes out around the sides.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe I over-tightened the shackle bolts? Could that cause both the immediate squeak, even when they were freshly installed and greased, and be compressing the bushing to where it's bulging a bit inside the shackle, and too tight to fit any grease?

I'm in the process of moving and don't have my torque wrenches with me, so I want to avoid loosening those bolts on just a hunch. Unless it's backed by a few more hunches...

Some poly bushings require you loosen the bolts to grease.

Oh wow. That'd be annoying. I'll check the Total Chaos site.

Unfortunately they don't have instructions for greasing the shackles, since it seems like they mostly sell control arms, but the instructions for the control arms do say you need to loosen the bolt. Guessing it's the same with the shackles. I sent them an email to verify.

Thanks for the tip. I'll just put up with it until I'm reunited with my torque wrenches.
