Did I get scammed selling on Ebay?

I sold a product on Ebay, the buyer wants a refund and be sent back. I have messaged them several times what the defect was with the product and why they think the product was not as described... As yet I received no response..Now I look and see that the buyer just joined Ebay the day they purchased it and has zero rating..Does Ebay favor the buyer and ..I'm thinking scam ??

 

Ebay and PP protection is heavily weighted in buyers favor.

I stopped selling on eBay years ago. Between the protections and fees, it's not worth it. Now I sell anything of value on specific hobby forums or locally on Kijiji (Canadian, local sales site).

eBay totally favors scammers.

 

You don't have to accept returns, and when you do, you have the option of waiting to receive the item back before releasing funds. I sell on ebay and have had no issues doing this. You can always open a case and win. If you do everything legit you won't get screwed. I have over 200 ratings, only 1 negative which was removed because I opened a legit case and won against a scammer.

 

I've been on ebay since 2001 with 694 ratings....Ive yet to get scammed by this tactic. If you posted an accurate description and showed the condition in the pics...youre golden. Like others have said, I too stopped selling there because of their fees, not worth it. Id rather sell locally for a bit less and not have to deal with shipping and all the bs that comes with online listings. Next time just take a look at the buyer/bidder before shipping out. You can always cancel people's bids if they dont have any feedback...same if they just used "Buy it Now"....just cancel, add them to your block list and relist the item.

 

I haven't bought or sold much on eBay lately for previous reasons given.
Mainly because eBay policies heavily favor the buyer..

Depending on the price of the item, I'd give them a full refund and be done with it.
I've even done that selling items here.
Sold my Muth mirrors here and clearly stated they were on the truck 6 years and had minor scratches.
Buyer complained about the scratches and I refunded him the $40 and told him to keep them.
It wasn't worth $40 to me deal with it.

Thanks. Still no answer from the buyer. Leaning towards return shipping, refund the 299.00 when received, and lesson learned, done selling on Ebay..

 

Dammit...
$300 is a decent chunk of cash..
I'd certainly ask for the item to be returned.

I sold a couple of old school Fosgate Punch 75 amps years ago.
I bought them in the mid 1980s but ran them in my 2005 Tundra..



I knew they were in proper working order when I sold them..
The buyer stated one of them didn't work properly, I told him to return it (at his expense) and I'd give a full refund minus my shipping charges.
Never heard from him again and he didn't file a discrepancy with eBay.
He just wanted me to give him a partial refund for something that worked fine...
