Deposit and Build Item-Q.

So a Tundra TRD that I inquired about and was under deposit, apparently has been backed out of by someone. Got an email from a salesman that it is now available, but need a deposit of $1k. The deposit is non-refundable unless you can’t get financing (which we all know the rates will go up). Is this standard across dealerships? I feel like I’ve read multiple people having deposits at different dealerships, which I assume were refundable?

Also, the Tundra hasn’t been built yet. Any likelihood that I can have say the Tonneau cover removed from the build? Thx.

 

Every dealer I dealt with wanted non refundable deposits down here in the SE part of the great state of Texas. They say it can go to another vechicle if you don't buy a Tundra. I told them all no since I was driving a low mileage '19 F250 so I didn't need a new truck. I bought my truck from a dealer where it had sat on their lot for about 3 weeks without putting a deposit. I want a Sequoia for the wife and they all want 1k deposits. She's not sure she wants one until she sees one in person. Also I believe you are stuck with whatever is on the sticker.
