Just had my 2012 Tundra 4x4 TRD 5.7L serviced at a Toyota dealership to keep it running well. I have had no issues.
Got it back and oil was leaking. Noticed it the day after getting it home. It was raining so I could only see a rainbow effect in the moisture. Upon cranking it I could see it drip. Called the dealership immediately and they told me to drive it in…
It was still leaking a considerable amount of oil when I arrived at the dealership.
The tech looked a little nervous.
I wasn’t very happy, but remained calm and cordial. Was trying to trust the experts. Then, upon coming to pick it up after the oil leak was fixed, the tech told me that the oil I saw was dripping off my splash guard and was nothing to worry about. At this point, I was seriously skeptical. The truck smokes lightly now, which I’ve never seen before.
Is there any validity to the splash guard holding oil? Is there any way the oil would start leaking from the splash guard only after cranking it? I don’t think I was being served well, and believe I was being mislead to cover the tracks of poor service. I have videos, dates, and service records. No records were given regarding what was done upon my return after noticing the leak.
Thoughts, comments, or advise is welcome. Thanks in advance.
