Looking for feedback/input: Have 71k miles, out of warranty. Toyota dealer is telling me I need another VVT Valve job (had this done in May of 2022) and also a Cam gear replacement. Contacted Toyota, they will do nothing. I have a been a loyal customer for many years (4 tacomas, 2 previous Tundras, tercels). Not impressed at this point. This seems crazy with so few miles. Thank you

My understanding on their parts warranty should be 12 months or x amount of miles. I would take it up with corporate and have them assist you with the issue. If its the same issue, if there is a TSB I'd search for that as well. Preferably before you call corporate so you at least have some back up to your issue. Other choices would be contacting another dealership, or smaller shop and get a 2nd opinion.

Can you detail what is happening? What you are hearing, feeling, seeing? Maybe post up the proposed invoice?
I called corporate telling them me/spouse had x years of yoda history and they warrantied a failed head unit on a 2015 Rav4...

Give us some details on the issue and go from there...

What in the world is a "VVT Valve job?"

Good question. Maybe cleaning or replacing the VVTI actuators on end of camshafts? Sounds intriguing.

I stutter so for me it's a VVT Valve job. For most others, Valve job.

Try a letter. To be fair, th is was a Honda issue.

I had an issue and the dealer I felt screwed me. I called Honda and registered a complaint. A few months later...Nothing.
I sent a letter, stating the dealer, the issue and the number of the complaint (take it down and ask whom your speaking to on the call).

A few weeks later, I get a call telling me I was badly treated and they would refund the funds owed. Letters work.
