Does anyone know of a nationwide Toyota search engine for dealer stock? I’ve used a Ford one in the past and have tried auto trader, cars.com and a few others but they don’t work well.

    thanks

I'm no help, but you aren't alone. Everywhere that I searched showed several in stock at every dealer around me. When I called they told me those vehicles were on the allocated list or had sold months prior. They just leave them up to get people to call, I'd assume. Ironically, one dealer had a SR5 or two on the lot but only had Platinums and 1794s listed...the old bait and switch.

When I have checked dealer websites I have seen customer orders in transit and dealer retail orders in transit. Also dealer retail orders still to be built. Happened to me when I was looking at both Fords and Toyotas. Usually there will be a "customer order" annotation on sticker I'd miss when I'd get all excited thinking I'd found the perfect truck and click the link to make an inquiry. Only to burst my bubble when they'd call and tell me it was a customer's truck.

I did find a couple nice Tundras equipped like I wanted listed in dealer inventory as in transit that still needed to be built and weren't spoken for yet, so they are out there. Toyota like Ford has a "search inventory" function that allows searching local inventory by putting in your zipcode. But you're still going to end up clicking to identify the dealer and having to reach out to the dealer to find out the same things you'd have to verify if you find trucks directly through their website.

It is faster to knock out the middle man and do the dealer website.

Can only speak for myself but I know using Toyota’s website, their “available vehicles” are nonsense.

what I ended up having to do is either search every dealer’s website from the Toyota website or use Autotrader/Cars.com/TrueCar to find vehicle. The issue there was that 90% of the time I called/emailed on a vehicle, it was either spoken for or had been gone for weeks.

I love Toyota but they have the least user/consumer friendly process out of any of the major brands I’ve ever seen.
