Yesterday I took the truck in for its 5,000 mile service, as well as the two service recalls. Everything was done with no issues, but I also asked them to look into why my connected services aren’t working in the truck, and the constant “Parking Brake Malfunction” code that randomly appears while driving.

After almost 9 hours at the dealer, they finally gave up and told me they’re going to put me in a rental, call Toyota to have them figure out what it is, possibly send somebody out there. Their head mechanic and best tech couldn’t figure out the connected services. He said his guess is maybe a faulty DCM (Data Control Module), or maybe the software needs an update or to be rebooted somehow.

As for the parking brake code, he said it was throwing a code for a right rear caliper. He said he’d look more into it tomorrow and check it out in detail, and may have to order a new set if there is a problem. Or, could just be the sensor. He did say though that it hadn’t come back after the ECU reflash, so maybe that was it? Frustrating not having my truck, but appreciative they took care of me and are doing what they can to get it fixed. Anybody else have similar issues?

Really? Where did you see that? What was stated in the recall?

I got it in the mail a few days ago. It basically said if you shut your truck off then back on within about 5 seconds you may lose the ability to hear or be heard when using the connected services. Or something like that. I don't use the service and the recall said if you don't use the service that you needn't worry about it.
