Dealer BS or Legit = Oil Change

My dad has the toyota care first two oil changes. Why would dealer tell him if he gets his oil change at 5K instead of 10K it would default to the 2nd one and he would only get 1?

 

They're morons. You get two. Regardless of when you get them. If they balk at that, report them to corporate.

Dealer would also argue with me that my GRC didn’t get oil change at 5k miles.
With Toyotacare I get 5 oil changes.

 

The service dept. I used only paid for 10k and 20k changes. I did the 5k and 15k, myself. Some dealerships will do 5k and 10k and you’re done, some will only do what Toyota ascribes to.

 

My dealer did mine at 1000 and then 5000. No questions asked.

 

Yep they want to sell you that and count the first one of the two is the way they did me. Kinda sketchy don't you think

 

My local dealership said the same thing. I get one free oil change a year, I had to pay for the 5k because Toyota recommends the 10k oil change.

 

Does this mean we get free oil changes with the new motor¿

 

If you care about your truck, take the loss and do it yourself. Dealer oil change guys are a joke!

 

You get 2 free oil changes by the plan that comes standard with every Toyota. You can ask your dealer to perform these two oil changes at at time you want.

If you read Toyota maintenance schedule, then it calls for oil change at 10k miles and 20k miles. And regular check ups at 5k miles and 15k miles which do not include oil changes. So dealer may be trying to follow these recommendations

 

another reason to do your own oil changes - 5k and every 5K after. By the time you dick around with the Dealer and wait you could be done - and you would know it was done right. IMO the Toyota Care is just a waste of time. I get why some use it and the Dealer. It's just not for me.

 

I was talking with someone who pointed out something I missed. When my local dealership offers free oil change, he said to notice it is 10K mile intervals. Then, when the free oil change is up, they drop the recommendation to 5K in order to maintain warranty.

My friend questioned them by asking them if 10K is good for the free one, why isn't the 10K good for the paid one? They didn't answer. One of the guys got up and went into the bay, the other had to "talk to a manager", and the manager was "busy" .

I guess you have to stay on top of them.
