How are all y'all disposing of your chrome bits after de-chroming? Is there any market for chrome parts?

Backing up, I recently moved, and with me came a bunch of chrome things that, let's be real, I'll never bother to re-install. I am simply not a "take it back to stock before resale" sort of person, not to mention, I'm not selling my truck in this decade.

    What I am thinking is...
    • Chrome grill -- this goes to the dump, its unfortunate and wasteful, but shipping would be a non-starter for anyone remotely willing to buy a used chrome grill from some random person on the internet, not to mention I did snap one clip removing it and so it's not "as new"
    • Smart door handles and mirrors (BSM, heat, power) go onto eBay -- maybe someone got into a parking lot accident and needs an inexpensive replacement, and if they sell, that's a little money in my pocket, and if they don't, maybe I'm out a small listing fee -- and then I'll feel better about sending them to the dump in the spring
    • The box of random chrome things just goes into the garbage
I feel awful about sending these plastic things to the dump, but I don't know what else to do with them, and it is taking up precious garage and head space. I live in a mid-sized town (population ~100K) so selling them on Craigslist and FB Marketplace seems very unlikely.

Maybe I'm just looking for re-assurance that dumping this stuff is the only way to move on from the chrome era. The grill alone is about to get wrapped in a tarp and moved into the side yard, where it will probably will soon be buried under snow and I'll still endure six months of harping to get rid of it.

If selling doesn't pan out and you want them gone but don't want to trash them.

You can post them in our Free section where the "buyer" pays for shipping. Sometimes folks need a piece while they paint/modify what was on their truck or they can use the chrome to do some test fitting or cutting before modifying their painted pieces.

My 2014 SR5 chrome grille and hood bulge sat in the attic for 5 years in the box the TRD Pro grille came in.
Someone posted they needed it, I contacted him, he paid for shipping ($120), and I sent it to him.

When I got my Amp steps, I tried to give my OEM tube steps away.
After sitting in the garage for 8 months I put them out for the trash.

My stock muffler is in the attic along with a bin of other stuff from my truck.
Stock HU, amp, speakers, floor mats, OEM black shocks, etc..
Audio I keep to put back in the truck if I sell or trade.
Would I actually do that is another question?
The shocks I keep in case a Bilstein fails, so far so good.
The OEM muffler I just got when my stolen cats were replaced.
I tossed the original stock muffler years ago when I got my first BAM.

Even living in Dallas Craigslist and FB Marketplace is nothing but a PITA.
No shows, lowballers, people wanting you to deliver the stuff you're giving away for free.....

As @RobertD stated, you might try giving stuff away in the "Pay it Forward" thread.
Just ask people to pay shipping charges or offer it locally...
