Why do people de-badge? Does it make the truck faster, increase MPG?

I don't miss the chrome advertising on the side of my truck.

We all know that Firefighters are attracted to shiny things, so you're likely predisposed to liking your badging.

F9A55546-5079-47D1-AA14-3B0DF0A1589B.jpg I did it today. I hate chrome, it was chrome so I took it off. The trd sticker doesn’t look good either.

I think this truck is very good looking, and I’m removing things that detract from that.

My cousin told me I lost 50hp when I took the engine badge off.:pout:

People want to make their trucks clean and nice looking and yet have more worthless badges than a Jeep, I've debadged all the vehicles I own. I used to be super into stickers too and had the back two windows on my 4runner totally covered, now that I'm an old and wise mid-20 something I've chosen the life of no badges or stickers and just clean and sleek and sexy and sleeper like :D

From my perspective, I would like to know why do people keep their badges?

    Debadging makes cleaning easier.

I don't need to advertise the make, model, trim level, engine size, wheel drive....I know what it is.

Plus, it looks cleaner, easier to maintain and you get rid of all those water and rust traps.

Truck makers think we want a whole bunch of chromed plastic pieces plastered all over our $50k trucks and advertise for them for free.....they're wrong. No other type of vehicle has this many badges all over the sides and back. It's tacky.

I wonder how many who de-badge actually turn around and then badge by adding non-color matching lettering to the TUNDRA stamp on the tailgate. My guess is more than a few...makes me laugh just thinking about it.

I am perfectly content with the CHROME badges on my SuperWhite TRD Sport.

What's worse, in my opinion - are the people that put TRD Pro badging on their non-TRD Pro vehicles - but fuck it, whatever makes you happy.

I debadged mine when I wanted to do a mod but didn’t have any money for mods at the time. It was a rock warrior so the only badges I had to remove were the 5.7L ones on the front fenders, plus the dealer decal and stupid FFV thing on the tailgate. I blacked out the chrome sombrero on the grill at the same time. I think it looks much cleaner and impressive without the chrome badges distracting the viewer’s eye.

Check the build link in my signature.
No where for shit to get trapped/build up (dirt/grime/etc.)…especially in the letters of the Tundra and 4x4 badges.

And some of us like Brazilian hardwoods.

if you’re gonna do it right, peel the vinyl off the B-pillar between your doors though…it’s oddly satisfying and freeing

Having badges all over is just kinda cheesy.

I feel so neat that everyone can see I didnt go with the rear wheel drive model
